Dr. Sexton saved my leg after a terrible horseback riding incident two years ago. He recently removed one of the metal plates, much to my delight. He is an excellent surgeon who respects the patient. I cannot say enough about him. There arent enough stars here to rate him in the manner that he deserves.

We encountered Dr Sexton after my son took a 45 fall down a rock face on the Appalachian trail and broke his wrist and ankle. The head of orthopedics at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest stated both fractures needed to be pinned and plated. Dr. Sexton disagreed and stated that as nothing was displaced and a cast was all that was needed - no surgery. If that was the end of the story I wouldnt be giving this review. Once back in our home state, our orthopedist reviewed my sons xrays and CT scans and ordered an additional CT & MRI of his wrist due to bones being out of alignment (aka displaced) and tilted. Dr B was concerned about ligament damage. While there was no ligament damage, Dr B was adamant that both fractures required pins and plates. Surgery that should have been completed 2 weeks prior - but was not. The surgery on my sons wrist was involved as many of the bones in his wrist were jammed up his arm and had to be put back into place. 8 screws and a plate in his wrist and multiple screws in his ankle. How Dr. Sexton missed this is beyond me. Its unfortunate, as our interaction with Dr. Sexton was the only blemish on my sons stay at LVHN. I cannot recommend Dr Sexton as a technician; however, I do agree that his bedside manner was pleasant and he appeared to be concerned about his patient as he did not pass the buck to a PA to discuss the diagnosis with his patient - he did that himself. He was just very wrong.

Dr. Sexton is a highly proficient practitioner who has a good bedside manner. He actually takes time to interact with his patients in the Hospital as well as the office, unlike Dr V who sends in a PA. I feel lucky to have landed him, as I was an elective surgery straight out of the emergency room.
