Dr. Kogan performed my surgery on a Sunday morning when he could have very easily had me wait. At my follow up appointment two weeks later, I felt as though I was part of a family. The nurse who removed my surgical staples and performed my X-rays was caring and very kind. It is rare to look forward to a doctors appointment, but I am looking forward to mine in two weeks.

Watch your bills when you get them. I was seen in the Algonquin office twice and each time I paid a $40 co-pay, but then received a bill and when I called they said I hadnt paid the second $40 co-pay. I pulled my bank records e-mailed them to show I paid both co-pays and Im still getting a past due notice.

I had a a great visit with Fox Valley Orthopedics. From the front office, to my visit with MD. James Seeds. I felt educated on my options, I felt no pressure to make a certain decision. I hope I wont have to return to their office, but if I run into a situation like this again, I will absolutley return.

I went ten yrs and seen twenty eight Doctors. No one could help me they said. Dr. Palmer seen me one time and told me he would fix me. And He is! After one surgery my pain has decreased considerably and my mobility improved. One more surgery to go and he will not only have fixed me. But he has given me a shot at living life again. Nothing short of a miracle! What a truly skilled surgeon he is. And a man of his word. I am extremely grateful to have found him. J.C.

Receptionist was friendly and efficient...very patient with questions and uncertainties from some older patients ahead of me. Was shown in to an exam room about 15 minutes after Appt time. Not too bad. Radiologist took pictures efficiently and showed us to another room to see Dr Palmer. He came about 5 minutes later and was very congenial, answering all of our questions. We were done lickety split. Lori, our Nurse Navigator came and scheduled the surgery and explained the process prior to surgery. She was very helpful. It was a very satisfying office visit.

My mom has an appt after a spontaneous spinal compression fracture. The Dr didn’t recommend any kind of follow up to see why the fracture happened, and he even said “no restrictions” on her movement going forward. She subsequently had multiple more compression fractures due to osteoporosis that the Dr could have suggested or tested for. She followed his direction of “no restrictions” and injured herself further. Beware.

Probably my best doctor experience. Very straight forward, no bs, not afraid to say he wasnt sure of an answer. He was 100% open and honest and I could tell he had my best interest when giving his diagnosis and how to handle everything. Would 100% recommend and go back again, and Id make him my primary physician if I could!

Stay clear of this place. Its a McDoctor drive thru operation; they just cram as many people as they can into the waiting room, giving each person their standard happy meal prescription of overpriced/useless physical therapy and pain killers, then send you on your way. They also mislead you into thinking that some of their services are covered by your insurance, just to find out later that they are not. I had to pay completely out of pocket for physical therapy that I was fairly certain wouldnt help but the admin told me dont worry, its covered. When I confronted them, they literally laughed at me and basically called me a liar.Saw Doctor Alpert about my shoulder; not only did he clearly not care about my injury, he was visibly annoyed and clearly trying to get rid of me as quickly as possible. He brought up an x-ray of my shoulder, never looked at it and told me my bones were fine... without even looking at the actual x-ray (which I had to pay for). Again, just gave me the happy meal treatment of Cortisone and expense/ineffective physical therapy. If you want a professional, honest and dignified experience, do NOT go to any Midwest Bone & Joint locations!

As a general manager of a medical facility and patient advocate, I will try to make this feedback as constructive as possible. I saw Dr Krogan for a knee injury that happened 6-8 weeks ago. I didnt go in right away because I know knee injuries can take time to heal as a weight bearing joints but the pain and weakness was increasing instead of decreasing. I explained that my knee locks and gives out when going down the stairs, which has resulted in falls as well as extreme difficulty/pain getting out of chairs and up from the floor. It has interfered with every aspect of my life and work and has ended many days in tears. I continued to explain how I had been trying gentle exercise but even walking on flat surfaces led to swelling and pain to the point I would sleep on the couch instead of going upstairs. It didnt seem that he listened to any of it.My husband agreed it was as though he had ear plugs in when I was speaking or simply didnt believe me. He recommended doing squats, leg presses and stair climbers after I just told him I couldnt do any of that. I didnt come in asking for pain meds or time off work, so there was no reason for me to be lying. I clearly had given it time to improve and it isnt. He kept using the word conservative treatment but never took the time to involve me in the treatment plan at all. When I do Dr. reviews, I find that as being simple arrogance. He then said we can do an MRI but in the same breath said the results will be skewed do to a knee surgery I had over 15 years ago. That leads me to believe that regardless of what they see in the MRI, he plans to be conservative. I am 34 years old with no knee pain in over 15 years and should be able to carry my baby without fear of dropping her. At the very least, I strongly feel I should have been SPOKEN WITH instead of being SPOKEN TO. As educated patients, we deserve the common curtsy of being involved. I value Dr.s opinions highly but not at the expense of not being seen as a person with varying needs and lifestyles. When I say something is dangerous or painful, I dont want that to be my treatment plan.

Great Staff!!! I have had two knee surgeries done by Dr. Kogan, the first one was five years ago and Im about three months out from a Total Knee Replacement. Dr. Kogan did everything he could before having to do the TKR, Im only 44 (43 time of surgery) and not a lot of surgeons will do this on a younger person (average age in the US is 68 y/o). I had traumatic arthritis from a military injury. I cannot thank Dr. Kogan enough. He is a very serious, very busy doctor and I think some may take that as something that it is not. Im not saying that Ive not waited for an hour past my appointment time, because I have. However, when it is my turn he makes me feel like Im the only patient he has and takes his time with me. Im most likely going to have my right knee done at some point and you can bet Ill be back to see Dr. Kogan!!!! I trust him with everything! On a side note, Sharon B. in the front office is a superstar, if you need something done she gets it done!!! I highly recommend this office for all your orthopedic needs.
