We were refilled by our eye dr to check moms eye. It was easy to get an appointment and fill the paper online. Although, they do not take our insurance but we wanted to get moms check ASAP. The location has parking and front desk are nice. We had a problem with the first technician/ nurse we worked with, her name is Kristine and she is rude! Well, customer service is a must for any click but for our luck we had this lady. From not asking all the screening probably and being upset that we had to translate to mom! And wanted to understand everything. Now, problem occurred when the doctors asked for more testing includes inquest ion - yes eye doctors do injections too- Mom did not feel comfortable with Kristine and wanted a different person to do the testing. For our luck we waited for another person , Shawn, who was very professional. We had to wait for him and spoke with the management. They promised not to have to deal with her again, good but the damage has done. Kristine had another patent who was not happy afterwards of the pain caused it to her ( she couldn’t inject or find her veins) poor thingy! So we made the right decision to request something else. Moms blood pressure ( eye of course) went up when she was with her. Now it is back to normal. We learned that this technician is visiting and not in her home clinic but still you would expect her to do better! All at all, most of the people were ok but one person and we were able to change it. Do not go to the Fredericksburg location.

I can’t say enough about the Retina Group of Washington. Everything about their medics practice is top-notch - the doctors and the entire staff are friendly, competent, and efficient. The quality of care is superb - wonderful at diagnosing problems, explaining them in layman’s terms, and then treating them quickly and seamlessly. Dr. Kasi is quite simply the best. He’s everything you want your doctor to be, and more.

The staff were very attentive. They answered my questions. They were professional and friendly. Dr Byrnes informed me my progress was going well. I was relieved to hear the good news. Dr Byrnes is a calm and thoughtful person. He takes the time to explain the steps he will be taking during his examination and answers any questions asked by the patient. I have been his patient for four years and all my visits have been pleasant.

Loved everything about my experience at RGW. The office was very nice. The staff was nothing less than amazing. I absolutely loved this location. Through out my test the tech kept checking on me to assure I wasn’t uncomfortable at all. Very attentive.

I have been going to the Retina Group of Washingtons Alexandria office since I moved back into the area. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was at the right place. I connected immediately with my doctor at the time and even after he left I kept going there and completely trust my current doctor, Dr. Levinson. When I expressed some concern about a freckle in one of my eyes, he scheduled me immediately for a 6-months appointment instead of once a year. Everyone in the office is very professional and friendly and I look forward to continue going there.

Dr. Katira was, as usual, professional and caring.There is usually a significant delay in the process of completing shots. On this visit the process was more efficient.

This people are very unprofessional and inconsiderate of other people’s time. I got referred to this office because I have a macular hole on my left eye, i called this office on August 12th and asked if they accept my insurance which is Anthem Healthkeepers and they said yes. So I scheduled an appointment for September 3rd. After I scheduled the appointment they sent me an email asking me to fill out paperwork which is like 7 pages long and so I did. Fast forward to today September 2nd, they called at 3pm and said I had to cancel my appointment because they don’t accept my insurance. Because it’s from the health insurance market place. Im so frustrated they waited till last minute to tell me that. I had already asked for that day off work since 3 weeks ago and scheduled a babysitter. This days it’s impossible to get into a specialist office because they’re so booked out for months. If I would’ve known they didn’t accept my insurance sooner I would’ve looked for another office.

Great experience at this office from check-in to check-out. Got referred here from my optometrist for haziness in my left eye. The check-in process was easy and efficient. I was seen right away. The doctor, Dr. Huang, was very nice, explained exactly what he was doing to test my eye, and then showed me a demonstration with a plastic eye of what was happening with my retina. Excellent experience.

A Sunday afternoon emergency visit was an incredible experience in kindness and expertise. A torn retina and the need for immediate attention. I am deeply grateful that Dr Kasi was on call and with warmth, humor, and skill, he addressed my problem immediately with laser surgery. 5 stars are not enough!

I was impressed with the standard of cleanliness and safety practiced by the staff. Dr Byrnes, as always, was terrific. He always answers my questions in very understandable and complete ways. The rest of the staff were welcoming, friendly, outgoing, and wonderful as per usual.

The doctors are first rate. They provide excellent care and take the time to provide detailed answers explaining what is going on with your eyes in a manner that a regular person will be able to understand. The nurses run a very efficient operation, conducting all the tests and evaluations needed before the doctor visit and the office staff is very good at getting you in and out when your appointment is done.

Had a win experience. The entire staff was polite and professional. They moved quickly, efficiently and my time there was not wasted. Doctor was personable and explained every facet in detail. Would recommend this office to anyone.

Excellent service by technicians. Absolutely the best care by Dr. Katira that anyone could possibly ask for. She is comforting and informative. She is informative and gentle as she gives me my eye injections. Cannot ask for better care.

As always, an excellent experience. I have been seeing Dr. Byrnes for at least five years now, since shortly after my operation for a detached retina. He is informative, clear in his explanations, and listens to any questions I may have. Service at the facility is great. This time, there was a bit of a delay because one of the retina scan machines was out of order. But staff kept me clearly informed on the reason for the delay. Looking forward to my next appointment in 2021.

I do not think I have ever had a more helpful staff. One woman actually walked outside with me to insure I was parked in a RGW spot (I was not) and then walked down to where the spots were to make sure I wasnt towed. Everyone was friendly and my appointment went as quickly as could be expected. I noticed also how solicitous staff was with a number of elderly and/or disabled patients.

Great doctors and the patients are well looked after. My wife was extreme happy with her visit and advice from the specialist/doctors.

I have been a patient of this excellent practice for over 10 years. They keep me well informed about my condition and treatment options, as well as emerging technologies and drugs. My doctor and the very professional technicians take my preferences into account on each visit, and I am comfortable discussing all aspects of my care with them. Occasionally I have had to request special scheduling accommodations due to travel or other circumstances, and they have worked me in when necessary. They keep my ophthalmologist in the loop with annual updates. They use state-of-the-art equipment. First rate, all around.

The appointment was done in steps, which is really the only way they can do it, but I always find it a hassle to pick up their forms and my belongings and move from waiting room to exam room, to waiting room, to exam room, to waiting room, to exam room. Staff stands in the waiting room and calls out your name, which is somewhat hard to hear or understand especially when they are busy. The positives are they are very professional, courteous and explain what they are doing and what the results are in great details.

Every one there was very nice. One of the ladies helped me with some papers because I could not see well. This is the third time I have seen DR. Kasi and I like him very much. Dr. Kasi is always pleasant, and helpful when you ask questions. I will be seeing him in three months.

I was surprised they were able to see me for first time visit on same day I called. All staff were very professional and took good care of me.

Everything went smoothly, from finding a parking space through my appointment with Dr. Levinson. Everyone there is wonderfully pleasant. I was seen right on time, if not even a bit early. Dr. Levinson is warm, kind, and has a nice sense of humor. I was treated very well and received very good care.

The initial screen was done by Yasmine who was friendly, competent and efficient. I was attended by Dr. Byrnes who had treated me 11 years previous. Dr. Byrnes is professional, competent and very enjoyable to deal with.Based on this visit to RGW, I would highly recommend them.

Dr. Reshma Katira has been my ophthalmologist for many years. The last reason that brought me to her I was losing my eyesight due to diabetic retinopathy. My eyesight was not allowing me to drive. At my last appointment my vision was 20/20. She has wonderful chairside manner explaining everything. She is awesome and I owe my eyesight to her.

I am a retired nurse with diabetic Retinopathy. I have been a patient at RGW off and on for 10 years. My current Retinologist Dr. Katira is highly skilled physician who has taken excellent care of me. She exhibits compassion and professionalism. With Dr. Katira treating me, my visual disorder has improved and is currently in remission. The staff at RGW go out of their way to make patients feel comfortable and well cared for. I highly reccomend RGW.

Best medical visit I’ve ever had my experience yesterday with The Retina Group of Washington.

It was somewhat intimidating coming into such a large, noisy and busy office and reminded me of a bus station. However, the service was prompt and courteous and Dr. Levinson was great.

The Retina Group of Washington — is a well oiled machine!!! Everyone we encountered was courteous, efficient, knowledgeable, and always helpful from the initial meeting of the receptionist, thru a myriad of tests, to the meeting with the Dr., herself.I don’t think I ever had to wait more than a minute or so as I was processed through the extensive appointment. I felt totally confident, the entire time, that I was receiving the best care possible.The technicians performing the tests briefed me on what was going to happen through each stage — and immediately responded to any question I might have.Very impressive, synchronized practice.Great Job RGW!!!

I arrived 30 minutes early for my appointment, which was my mistake as I had the time incorrect in my calendar. I was called in for my evaluation workup almost immediately after I checked in. My total time for my appointment was probably 40 minutes. I was treated with professional respect by all of the staff. Dr. Kasi is very kind and is always open to questions and concerns.

Appt was at 12:30. My name was called within 10 mins of arrival for basic eye exam and retina scan. I was seeing the doctor within 20 mins of arrival. Cant beat that.I had questions doctor had answers. I had more questions doctor had more answers. Dr explained what I was seeing in the scan. Very comfortable experience.

Doctor Levinson and the staff were absolutely amazing! They were very professional, and also went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. The office manager Myradis was especially kind, and I highly recommend coming to the Retina Group of Washington for care!

I have Age-related Macular Degeneration and have been seeing the doctors at RGW for a few years. Yesterday I was there for my yearly exam and wanted to commend the entire office for the rapidity with which I was seen and treated. I was amazed by the efficiency and warmth of the staff at every level of my visit!! Thanks you for you terrific service and attitude.

Dr. Kasi went above and beyond by meeting me at the Fairfax office after hours to perform emergency laser surgery on my left eye. I can’t thank him enough for his extra efforts. I wholeheartedly endorse The Retina Group of Washington because of Dr. Kasi. They clearly put their patients first!

I guess my opinion of RGW is not nearly as positive as others.PROsFriendly staffSurgery went reasonably wellCONsInaccessible offices for those who dont have a carLong wait times (1+ hours in the Alexandria office 2.5+ hours in DC--I finally gave up when I saw that there were still 20 people ahead of me)Difficulty processing insurance claims: I keep getting large bills that should be sent to my insurance company. Thats why I pay for insurance (so that I dont have to pay out of pocket).Lack of communication: the hospital called the day before surgery and said they didnt have an operating room for meDelayed treatment: RGW delayed removing oil from my eye two months beyond what my previous surgeon recommendedIncomplete surgery: Oil was left in my eye after the vitrectomy. I was informed that my cataract surgeon could take it out when she works on me. But she said the oil is behind the lens, not in front of it. I guess Ill be stuck seeing an oil bubble the rest of my life!This is only the second time in my life Ive given anyone a poor recommendation but over time there have been too many problems at RGW for me to say the service was good. Its a shame because there were several people at RGW who were excellent. Its just that it was the exception to the rule.

High volume place. Doctors seem fine but dont expect to feel special here. I just had a prolonged wait in a bright, overheated room with uncomfortable furniture. Not relaxing

They are a really great group the technicians are great Sergio and Carl are just a few along with the office manager and Doctor Byrnes is magnificent Ive been coming here for 10 years and both Alexandria and Manassas office is great

In May 2012 I was referred to Dr. Byrnes by a friend when I realized I had AMD. After five plus years I am still returning every five weeks or so to see my friend Dr. Byrnes to get injections in one or both eyes. His treatments are virtually painless and we always have a laugh or two, and I often have a pleasant conversation with one of the technicians. Its a good place.

My husband has been going to RGW for five years. The staff is very competent and friendly and my husband cant say enough nice things about Dr Gordon Byrnes! He is confident that Dr Byrnes will continue to give excellent care. I too have made an appointment to see him next month for a follow up on a torn retina in 2007. We have recommended him to other friends as well.
