After surgery I was put in a shared room with a terminal patient. She was visited by dozens of people - more than 10 at a time, who brought beer and pizza to watch sports events and borrowed my patient chair when I was sleeping. This is during the big resurgence of Covid. Compassionate care maybe but not for me. I will never go back to this hospital.

So far everyone’s been nice/ accommodating. The only thing I will say is the mid wife/ gynecologist I’ve met with just seem bland and treat you like you are another number… I get they do this all day/ it gets redundant but in a sense it takes the joy and excitement out of pregnancy visits.. especially since this is my first.

I only gave 3 stars because a lady in the dressing room who was 75 made us ladies laugh and the mammogram process was a little better. The lady who did my ultrasound was very quiet and didnt ask if I was ok, after having to wait for the doctor to come in and talk to me for over an hour. The check in took over an hour as well and the whole ordeal was not fun and was very scary for me. A little reassurance would have been nice, the customer service is lacking big time.

How womens Lovelace could possibly be rated anything under 10 stars is beyond me. My fiance had her water break Tuesday morning and the midwives and everybody involved in the labor were amazing. The level of care they provided both of us was better than I could have ever thought of. After having our baby girl and moving downstairs with all the nurses techs and lactation specialists again the care and knowledge they gave us was incredible. I am so so thankful for everyone there and how much they helped from the bottom of my heart thank you from both me and my fiance.JP and Heather

Just gave birth at Womens Hospital and we had the best experience! The facility was clean and up to date, both the labor room and over night rooms were huge and nicely stocked with supplies. The staff were amazing, professional, caring, and kind. Everyone we interacted with from OB triage, the labor team of nurses, and the family birthing center nurses were outstanding. Both my husband and I really felt like they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Couldnt say enough nice things about them!

My daughter had spiked a fever of 103.1 we went to this ER because it was the closet to our house hoping we would be seen soon. That was not the case. We walk into the waiting room there were 15 people in the room. There were only 6 chairs because the “social distancing” stated there were only allowed six people in the room at once. We registered, and since there were no chairs, we sat on the floor for about 30 minutes until a couple opened up . Another 45 minutes roll by and the woman who had checked in before us had barely been taken back to get her vitals. Another 30 minutes and my daughters vitals were still not taken. I had listened to other people in the waiting room say they had been waiting for over three hours. Another who was in a wheelchair stated she had been there since 1:45, we arrived at 5:30. Almost four hours!? Absolutely not. I was not about to wait that long while my daughter had that high of a fever. So I left and went to Albuquerque ER. Where we were taken back and seen in under 15 minutes.

3 stars due to the MFM department. I have had 8 appointments (at least) with them and they have never been running close to on time. Its always a 30 minute or more wait pass the scheduled appointment time, I waited an hour once. I understand most places are under staffed but its ridiculous. Scheduleling needs to change to accommodate staffing. There isnt a problem in the other OB department.

If you are dropping off a stool sample be prepared to have to wait half an hour to be able to do it because you have to go through admit first. Also dont set up a date for a procedure until you have checked with your insurance company that the procedure has been approved. Otherwise you will get a notification from Lovelace on the day of the procedure that there is not going to be one after all (when you already have made arrangements to be dropped off and picked up and you havent eaten anything since midnight). Not very patient oriented facility.

First and foremost I know how very important it is to be educated in where you are having your babies. I had a hard time finding a positive review on this place but conclusively got some of the best care I could’ve ever possibly hoped for. My midwife Ariele Bauer’s was wonderful to me throughout my entire prenatal care. Upon induction( my choice, wasn’t forced on me and I was going post due date) my care team was phenomenal both at care and explaining what was happening before it happened. Thank you nurse Sabrina and Amanda lee. Once things went towards c section I was scared as most first times moms would be. I talked to dr candelaria and I believe Sheila whom was doing my Anesthesiology. There were very Thorough at explaining things, letting my boyfriend be there and calming me down. Making sure all my questions were answered. And postpartum care while waiting to go homeHas been phenomenal. Thank you to all the wonderful nurses here, viviana, Alyssa, Janice, the people in the kitchen whom included my boyfriend in meals too. Just everyone here is doing such a wonderful job. The 3 stars are for the great treatment my mother got in ICU and for the ER trama unit that saved my mother. Yesterday my mom was supposed to have a life saving surgery but the CFO did not let my mom have the surgery because my mom owes for another time she was in the hospital. Which my mom has been making payments but found out its the doc. Bill she been making payments on and not the hospital bill. I just dont get how they can put my mom at risk over money! My mom almost died and if she dont have this surgery she could die. But they do not care. Money is more important than saving a life. I thought hospitals cared about saving lives? Im so upset and been praying my mother dont go down again!! I have never heard of a hospital turning a sick person away over money! Its not right!! Like I said my mom almost died it took 1 hour and 30 minutes to stabilize my mom!! I guess you need to be well off with money to get help with your illness at this hospital??!! My mom can barley walk she is in massive pain she cant control her movement of urine or BM SHE cant lift her legs she so pale and is not feeling good at all. Dr. Riley should give a class on Bedside Manner because she has that skillset mastered. She listened to me. She was very receptive. She explained everything to me in a manner that I understood. I had a gallbladder removal surgery here and it was the worst experience I have ever had with any hospital. After 40 minutes in post-op I was released. They told me after surgery I would be in post-op recovery until I was able to get dressed by myself, eat something without throwing up, and be able to go to bathroom by myself. None of that happened. I was barely waking up from anesthesia when I heard nurses dressing me and commenting on my clothing. I was rushed out of the hospital by nurse Summer and once I was in the car she noticed my shirt had blood on it. She raised my shirt and saw that one of the incisions was oozing out and ran back in to get something to secure it. She came back with a big piece of gauze and a little bandaid. She put the bandaid on side of the gauze not even on the incision oozing out and the gauze just fell out. It was the worst service and care and I would highly recommend not getting any procedure done in this facility. Many other things happen but I dont have time to write it all. Do not go here!

When he arrived at his room it was not cleaned, in fact the previous patients belongings were still there. He never got a supper tray. The director, Alex, was extremely kind, empathetic and helpful. To top it off I ended up going into emergency surgery and Dr. Valdez was my surgeon. She was very thorough, gave me my best options and answered all of my questions. These were just a few of the people I can remember by name, but their entire staff was fantastic. They were the only ones to give me answers after going back and forth to other doctors and taking several tests for what felt like a very long three weeks before I came in. Their bedside manner here was outstanding and I really appreciated it as it was a scary time for me. So again, THANK YOU to the staff. I’m so grateful for you all.

Recently had surgery here, and I would recommend going elsewhere. My surgery went fine and my OR staff were great. The problem happened when I was waiting for surgery and recovering. I had to listen to what I am assuming was a doctor talking inappropriately about his patient that had pain, and I will spare what was said. There were nurses in the area speaking poorly about one of their co-workers, and discussing patients, as well as talking inappropriately about patients. One of the nurses was discussing with her patient in the recovery room telling her an entire life story and continuously interrupting her and comparing the patients pain to hers, which I found to be inappropriate. The hospital seemed outdated, and not very clean.

Well first off I want to give a 5 star to the nurse Leslie to night he was very attentive and caring! If it wasnt for him I wouldnt of got as far as I did in that waiting room. When I came in to be seen with covid symptoms the young guy in the front didnt have a clue what to do he just sent me in the waiting room with a clipboard and I waited a hour before they even realized I didnt get checked in . Leslie was the only one on top of patient care and got me situated. The girl whos supposed to be doing checkins was goofing around mind you I came in for covid symptoms. I left without being seen or knowing my results. I called to ask if someone would call me to let me know if I was positive and I got the answer no you have to request it from medical records. I am shocked and very upset with Lovelace but hands down Leslie deserves a raise! I am talking about the ER staff UPDATE: so I was contacted by a very sweet lady today about my results so that made me feel a lot better!

At a time when we’re trying to get as many people vaccinated for covid as possible, it was frustrating to go to Lovelace where the medical establishment is pretending vaccines don’t mean anything. It doesn’t matter if you or your family is vaccinated, you will be subject to the same ridiculous and strict covid precautions as everyone else. I was asked on my admission questionnaire if I got my flu shot (in June) but not if I got a covid vaccine-what reason for that is there? They don’t want to know about your covid shot because they don’t care, they’d rather keep acting like it’s useless. A nurse even told me that he will not ever be getting his covid shot. That’s his choice but it was frustrating to hear that when your vaccinated family can’t visit you in the hospital. I had to get a covid test 3 days before admission even though I’m vaccinated, but I doubt there is any routine testing of their employees who refuse to get theirs and who work with sick people all the time.I will say that most of the nurses and techs who took care of me were great, and even the hospital food was pretty good.

She has had surgery on her shoulder where her port was infect a year ago and put her four months in the hospital with sepsis and a cardiac infection. This time, her white blood count would not go down so they scanned her and found osteomyelitis in 4 spots in her spine and she has had multiple surgeries since. We are hoping she goes to rehab tomorrow. I am still encouraging this family to go to the medical board on this doctor because your assumption almost killed her.

I find their lack of medical physical emotional and other care appalling. My friends daughter went there to avoid the wait time at unmh. She was in a lot of pain. she is a recovering addict but also has some very serious chronic illnesses. She has been clean for years but is a frequent flier to ers. Her doctor made an assumption without running any tests that she was drug seeking and sent her on her way. She relented and went to unmh where they did run tests and found her white blood count through the roof and admitted her for sepsis putting her on iv antibiotics. She almost died about a year ago from sepsis and spent 4 months in the hospital. This doctor should not have his license for treating her based on an assumption instead of doing his job. If he had run the basic bloodwork he would have discovered she really was sick and not just drug seeking. shame on him. I have recommended to them to file a formal complaint with the medical board.

I am giving them 1 star for their complete lack of communication. My 84 year old father went from an assisted living place to the ER on December 30th. I found out he was admitted by calling the next day and just asking for his room number and the operator told me what it was. After that I tried multiple times to reach his care givers just to know what was going on with him. They would supposedly transfer me to his nurse, whereupon the phone rang for a long time and then disconnected. On one occasion I happened to connect with the nurse who acted extremely annoyed and bothered that I called. When you have an elderly vulnerable person who cannot advocate for themselves and due to a pandemic, the family is not allowed in, there needs to be communication with the family and it should not require an act of God. I took this to the house supervisor asking that someone please call me once a day to let me know what was going on with my father and I was told that would be extremely difficult. They may be taking great care of him but how would I know? I am not able to see him or talk to him. And even if I was, at the time of his admission he was mentally confused and could not be more vulnerable.

We had a horrible experience with Lovelace’s billing department, which is really unfortunate because the good experience I had during labor and delivery was completely overshadowed by the billing department. I was billed $11,000 for labor and delivery, which was incorrect. The correct amount was about $1,000, and so I contacted my insurance company and they called Lovelace’s billing and sent the EOB. This was in June, and in November I was still being sent bills for $11,000. I know it wasn’t my insurance company’s issue because I would be on the phone with them while they were contacting Lovelace and telling them they had sent the EOB. In November, while it was still an active claim and my insurance company was trying to make sure the billing department sent me a bill for the correct amount, Lovelace sent it to a debt collector. So then I began receiving phone call after phone call hounding me to pay an $11,000 dollar bill that wasn’t correct. It’s ridiculous to me that Lovelace sent an active claim to a debt collector, knowing that my insurance company was sending them EOBs, trying to figure out what was going on, and telling them that the amount was incorrect. Now that our insurance is accepted at Rust we will be going there from now on. Super disappointing.

Firstly, the person who I made the appointment with told me to check in at Radiology for a Mammogram. When I arrived at the building, they only had the main entrance open, AND it was the same doors for the people exiting. No other doors were in use. Bad idea during Co-Vid, because so many people were passing each other within inches. After waiting for 10 minutes in Radiology because the check in woman decided to have a long, personal conversation with another patient, I interrupted politely and said, I am late for my appointment and have been waiting a bit, could I check in. She said, put your name on the clipboard, which I did, and continued to wait another full minute before she addressed me again. Now the previous patient had her purse on the counter and the check in woman, did not even wipe it down. She called me up and told me that I was in the wrong department and that I needed to go to Mammography (new office, other side of building). Its a hospital and she is not disinfecting? It gets worse.Another woman showed up to show me where Mammography was (I guess I was incapable of taking directions on how to get there, or better, the check in woman at Radiology was incapable of telling me).My escort was kind and helpful. I told her everything and she was going to do something about it.When I arrived in Mammography, they were too many people waiting in the same room. And, shocker, the front desk woman did not disinfect chairs after people sat in them, did not disinfect the clipboards, nor the counter. I asked her where I should go while I wait because there were too many people in the waiting room, she suggested that I wait in the hall. They were running really behind and my appointment was at 8am.While I waited in the alcove of the entry to Mammography, I hear clicking footsteps coming toward me so I peek out and there was a woman, who worked in the next room, Cardiology NOT even wearing her mask as she walked down the hall. She started to put it on after she entered Cardiology. I eventually was called in for my over 1/2 hour late appointment. Courtney was wonderful, but I still cannot give this place more than one star. What a ridiculous experience to have, during the pandemic, at a hospital.UPDATE: Lovelace contacted me based on this review to email them my phone number, so I did and NO ONE followed up. My first c-section there was good. There was little pain afterwards and I was very comfortable. My c-section in June 2020 however, was horrible. The spinal had to be done several times and was very painful to put in on the last try. The surgery part was very smoothly and the team there was great and kept me in a good mood. But then, afterwards, I was allowed to be in excruciating pain and there was nothing anyone intended to do about it although I complained consistently to my nurses. I was even afraid they would think I was some sort of street drug addict even though I was a healthy mama all the way through the pregnancy and never show any signs of that sort of thing. They refused to give me the correct dose of actual prescription pain medication as they did the first c section. C section pain is hurts!! It feels like you have been sliced open. I was burning from the incision, I was still having contraction, trying to take care of my baby (was mostly alone because of the Covid thing), having the same pain from before the c-section (because my baby was laying on nerves during the pregnancy and this pain took time to go away), and all my nurses could say was that I was fine. I really hope this wasn’t any racial bias. Anyway, I don’t think I could recommend Lovelace Woman’s Hospital another time.

My mother had an emergency kidney stone procedure that needed to be taken care of. She was sent to Lovelace Women’s Hospital in the late afternoon and was practically abandoned in their ER waiting room by herself. The precautions set in place for the virus kept me from being with her. I have my BSN and am a registered nurse for one of the other hospitals. I am very disappointed in the treatment she received. The urologist who worked with her dismissed her needs prior to this event and even had the word “prostate” on one of her scans. That is absolutely ridiculous. Zero patient advocacy. Zero individualized patient care. I could go on and on. With that being said, her experience will shape how I treat my own patients. I always strive to do my best and this hospital failed her. Not to mention, there was a prior complaint about this facility for racial profiling. My mother is Mexican and I do believe they profiled her. There is no excuse for their lack of ethics. Patients are not the priority here. And the urologist is a whole other issue that I’m very angry about. My mother was in a vulnerable situation. She did not have any IV access and was labeled NPO understandably. However, the care plan for her as a pre OP was an absolute risk to her safety and her life. I know how this career field works, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Me and my girlfriend came here to give birth to our first child Athena. This can always be scary/nerve racking being our first child. The staff here is amazing all the way around. They treated us like family, are always kind and understanding. If your planning to have a child in New Mexico I HIGHLY recommend this hospital. They couldn’t have done anything different to make us and happyier! We were in three different parts of the hospital(to give birth, post birth, and the NICU.) All three parts/departments were phenomenal! They worked well together and just how understanding they were great! I want to say thank you to all there wonderful staff that made a world of a difference. If we have another child we know where we’re going to go! I usually don’t give reviews but just want to say great job and thank you for everything keep up the good work! 😁

Where to begin? Even of the provider is great the costumer service and staff competency is so bad and inconsistent that its not worth it. Just avoid these ppl. They would rather put you at risk by having you go to their location to tell you they refuse to bill your secondary insurance. Even though you were cleared by your insurances and their office staff.

I love love love this hospital. They definitely took care of myself & all my children I delivered there. Not only that, when I had my gallbladder & hernia removed they also took care of me and always made sure I wasnt in pain, made sure I had all my prescription/medications. Always answered any questions... called me after I was already discharged the following day to see how Im doing and if I needed anything to contact them. I highly recommend this hospital for pregnant women, or to anyone that needs immediate help, emergency care, health treatment whatever it is Lovelace womans hospital will help you and direct you to where you need to be.KRISTINA LOPEZ

DO NOT go to this ER if you are seriously injured, as I have waited 3+ HOURS to be seen. I love the maternity ward, as they are fantastic, but the ER staff have NEVER been helpful in my experience. I almost lost my baby because they wouldnt believe how ill I was, and recently scolded me because my doctor sent me to the ER for a torn shoulder, and this ER staff didnt believe me, even though I had the referral from my doctor (the ER doctor looked at the referral, and LAUGHED as if the urgent care I went to was a joke to her).So if you need an ER, I would highly recommend NOT going to this one.

I brought my mother in for surgery last month, I have been waiting too long to write this. The volunteer that met us in the front , Deanne?, was awesome!!!!! A truly lovely lady. Once seated there was a indigent fellow who staggered into the area. Security arrived in seconds, (probably just walking through, but he knew who he was looking for) the man was really drunk, the guard, Jessie? was the most professional I have ever seen. Calm and nice but firm, even after the drunk said some very bad racial slurs he just kept his cool and led him out the door. My moms nurses were also awesome and very kind to her, I did not see any names on them. But all were very good and very compassionate. They answered my questions without acting as if I was a bother. They relaxed her and made her feel comfortable.

I definitely had a miscarriage. Was up all night with severe contractions that lasted anywhere from 10-15 minutes for about 3-4 hours.I waited for hours for the doctor and nurses to give me about 10 seconds of each of their time and not really listen to me speak. Now I’m looking up what I experienced and how there’s no way they would have been able to detect the pregnancy with a urine test this early and they should’ve done a blood test to test for hCG. Especially if I went through all of the trouble of going to the ER and was in excruciating pain- I’m not a hypochondriac in any way. I dislike going to the doctor or hospital, for obvious reasons because this is usually how I’m treated, like I’m just an inconvenience. This miscarriage has been a traumatic experience for me, it definitely was not a period, I’ve had heavy periods and I’ve had one child before and I haven’t felt contractions like that or contractions at all since I had my child. Not to mention all of my early pregnancy symptoms. I never ever in my life even with my son got bloated to the point I looked like I was showing or bloated even a little bit that’s never even happened to me when I was sick I’ve never experienced bloating before even on my period and wasn’t ON MY PERIOD or even close to getting it when the bloating began, my breasts hurt the entire month and they never hurt when I don’t have my period (why would they?), constipation for over a week (VERY rarely happens to me maybe every other year or two and only for a day or two at a time and I eat plenty of fruit and veggies), headaches (I never ever have headaches), nausea (I know the difference between having a flu and this nausea it was again nothing I’d ever experienced), etc. I had nearly all of the symptoms of being pregnant. Even more than with my first pregnancy, and the similar symptoms I had to that first pregnancy were symptoms I haven’t felt for over 10 years now.I had tissue coming out when I started bleeding heavily. No one listened to me enough or asked me enough questions, I was rushed to leave. I haven’t found one article that said you can detect pregnancy less than 2 weeks after sex through a urine test. No one even asked me when I had sex!!! I know the exact date! Very, very disappointed in my experience from a “Women’s Hospital.” I should have just left when I asked the front desk woman if I could because my time was wasted, I didn’t get any proper answers, I was treated like a waste of time and I later officially miscarried at home. Like I said- I know the difference between a heavy period and miscarriage, and I know my body was pregnant.

My first experience with this hospital was when I had my first child, a little over 3 years ago. It was amazing. The staff was so wonderful. There was a nurse in to check on me every 30-45 minutes to make sure I was comfortable, and they were all very kind. Once my son was born, they took great care of both he and myself. I was so scared going through labor for the first time, and my mind was immediately put at ease. Now Im 32 weeks with my second child, and yesterday at about 4am I went in with what I thought was preterm labor pain. They immediately took me to a room and hooked up all the monitors to make sure baby was okay. It turns out I had kidney stones for the first time. I was so sick and in pain, and at that point dehydrated, and they took great care of me. They tried hard to make me as comfortable as possible, they did a great job getting an iv in even though my veins were collapsing, they offered several different pain med options after confirming it was stones, and ran all possible tests to be certain nothing else was going on. I love this hospital and its staff and I look forward to my daughter being born there soon.

I can only speak about the OBGYN department. I have meet a few midwifes, there are about 20. So far, the few that I have meet have been good, however I cannot speak the same for midwife Patricia Heinz, I do not recommend her at all unless you want a rude practitioner who roles her eyes to a pregnant lady. Met her for the first and only time for a follow up with my husband. The apt took about 5 mints, which has been the shortest appointment I have ever had with any of the midwives. When she entered the room, she came in with an attitude. I was laying on the table and my feet were dangling, which was not an issue for me. However she look at my husband, rolling her eyes and stated with an attitude you could of just extended the table. My husband and I looked at each other, very puzzled. She used her doppler to check the babys heart and answered a question or two that we had. When we were done, she said OK and left the room. If you want a decent midwife, do not book an appointment with her.

We took our elderly mother to the Lovelace Womens Hospital ER when, in rehab, she took a significant turn for the worse. By the time she got a bed, it was clear the end was coming fast. They turned over a room to us and made it possible for her loved ones to be with her down the home stretch. Their professional team provided for every need and let us have all the room as long as we wanted, always showing empathy and respecting our privacy. Losing ones mother is one of the saddest events a human endures. The LWH ER teams generosity allowed ours to be a peaceful, beautiful experience. We will be forever grateful for their kindness.

The ER is fabulous! Staff is efficient, skilled, and caring. The hospital, which I have spent 4 days at, and have 3 to go, has mostly great nursing staff (although I had one daytime dud) and med tech staff. They are grossly understaffed, and have some poor management systems in place. Had I known when I went to the ER that I had even a remote chance of being admitted, I would never have gone in. I was admitted for the treatment of a kidney & bladder infection, sepsis, and dangerously low potassium levels. My second night, it took the nurses station 2.5 hours to respond to my call to change my IV solutions and treat me for severe dizziness and nausea. Good thing I wasn’t dying! My wife brought a cooler of water, ginger ale and protein drinks so that I would not need to wait for replenishment. Pretty sad.My granddaughter was born here 3 years ago, and the quality of care for our daughter was just as poor then.

I went to the ER, where I was seen by Michail (sp??) a very nice guy who is Russian by birth but whose English is amazing. My husband heard him tell the staff doctor he thought that I had a c. diff. infection, which turned out to be right. I was admitted directly from the ER. EVERY staff member I dealt with - especially the nurses and techs - were pleasant, patient, and competent. Because I am bilingual and enjoy speaking Spanish when I get the chance, I got to speak Spanish to several of the nurses and techs, which made my heart happy. I was afraid of being a pest and using the call button too often, but they reassured me that I did not. Nobody ever talked down to me because I am not a medical professional. I still had a long way to go when I was discharged, but the intensive IV medications had definitely started me on the road to recovery. I have been treated in this hospital more than once, and would not hesitate to recommend it.

I usually have good experiences here but I am scheduled for surgery this morning. And I was told to be here at 6 am and check in at radiology. Well its passed 6 am no one was at radiology so I walked around the building (since doors were locked this early), to ask the ER check in what to do and he said check in is by the lobby. Go to the lobby and?? No one is there to check me in and all the lights are off. So I dont know if my surgery is happening today or not now that I am 30 mins late and still no one working to check me in. Great!

The service here was good until my wife went in for surgery and got $200 taken out of her purse before her procedure. I dont understand how people can take advantage of people about to go under. My wife had a panic attack moments after her surgery under the circumstances, because of being overwhelmed thinking she was in good care. This has already happened before according to the nurse. My experience at this hospital having my baby should have been beautiful and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I will NEVER go back and intend to sue the heck out of the hospital for my son having a permanently misshapen head due to their indifference and blowing me off completely. With the exception of two wonderful nurses the staff was rude and inconsiderate. The doctors tricked me into going with a treatment plan I did not want and manipulated me into over medicating myself to the point that I was unable to hold my child or breastfeed him for the first day of his life, this has has consequences for the rest of his life. We were kept much longer than we needed to be and when I asked to be discharged I was told if I left before all the checkboxes were taken care of they would call social services on my son and I. This disgusting hospital is obviously run by the insurance companies and the doctors and nurses clearly do not like working there at all. I cannot day enough bad things about this place and would recommend giving birth in your car before this hell hole!
