Dr. Urquhart extracted #31 and he was very proficient and focused. I wasnt in the office fo more than an hour. Very professional staff and excellent dental surgery. The gum has healed completely with no complications. I highly recommend Dr. Urquhart.

Excellent oral maxillofacial surgeon. Visited him today to get a consultation regarding an implant. Surgery scheduled soon. He’s an excellent doctor, so the schedule is pretty full. It may take several weeks to get in but it’s well worth it.

As a female, this is first male dentist Ive seen in several years that made me feel comfortable and like I had a say in my treatment, plus he answered all of my questions. The staff here is great too- from the receptionists to the hygienists and dental assistants. I was in and out for an emergent-scheduled, sedated surgery in less than an hour and a half.

I have recently moved to New Mexico and had a dental issued that needed attention. Dr. Urquhart was recommended to me by a friend and he saw me immediately, evaluated the problem, suggested options, conferred with my other dentist and resolved the issue. I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Dr. Urquhart. I have the utmost confidence in him and will return.

Initial consult for surgery was great. Friendly and professional staff. Dr Urquhart clearly explained my options with no pressure one way or another.

Staff was rude! Missed one appointment because of work and wouldn’t reschedule the appointment and told I wasn’t welcomed back, seems extreme.

I needed to have two lower molars that were caps, one on the left the other on the right.The office is very welcoming and calming. I had a discussion with the Doctor and he explained the process and answered the few questions I had. Then the Doctor administered the local anesthetic first applying a topical anesthetic. He then took the time to let that take effect before the anesthetic. He took his time injecting the sites asking frequently how I was doing. He was very gentle and after injecting both sites gave ample time for the Anesthetic to take effect. Later he administered more anesthetic. When he began the extractions he took his time, was gentle and frequently asked how I was doing. The whole process including the sutures was painless and comfortable. After the surgery he reviewed things I should do over the next few days, provided prescriptions for pain meds and antibiotics. Also I received an information sheet describing after care and ways to contact the office if problems arise. I’m in my third day of recovery feeling great and have had little discomfort that I could treat with painkillers. Though I am always nervous about dental processes including extractions it was very easy and comfortable.

I doubt I’m the only one here who dreads going to the dentist, but Dr. Urquhart has totally changed that for me. He is very calm and reassuring and will answer any questions you have. His team is amazing too! I recently had a tooth extraction, and I felt so safe. I would highly recommend him for anyone who’s a little nervous about getting medical care. You’ll be in great hands!

I spent two weeks in constant pain due to an infection that my normal dentist failed to treat properly. However, once I made it to Dr. Urquharts office, it was a breath of fresh air. Not only was he able to assess what was going on, he was able to do a procedure, right then and there, to correct my situation. I no longer have a piece of exposed, dead, jagged jaw bone destroying my mouth. I was in and out in under an hour. This is the oral surgeon I will trust with my care from now on.

I had an appointment with Dr. U for a tooth extraction. A 3rd tooth was growing under my gums and was destroying one tooth, Dr. U was very nice, and I even liked how quick he was. I thought since there was a 3rd tooth that it would take longer but it only took 30 minutes and I dont know if the assistants name was eryka but she was also very nice, quick and they both took very good care of me. When I first started seeing Dr Urquhart, my teeth were in pretty bad shape. I’m so grateful Dr Urquhart agreed to stand by me through all the operations I needed. Now my teeth are almost back to normal, I only need a few more operations. Dr Urquhart is very thorough, with the most modern, hi-tech facility, and trained staff. The most important, everyone at Desert Mountain Maxillofacial Surgery are so friendly. There’s times I went in for surgery, knowing what was going to transpire, I was so scared. The friendly professional staff, as well as Dr Urquhart are so friendly. They put my heart at ease, and before I knew it, I was headed out the office door. Successful surgery complete, and one step closer to restored dental health. Dr. Urquhart really knows what he’s doing, his staff really know what they’re doing. I wouldn’t come back here. My consultation visit I had no problem with them. When it came for me to actually have my procedure done, they didn’t explain to me when they were sedating me. Urquhart didn’t even say hello to me, his team just rushed to start the procedure. Then I wake up to one of the ladies hitting me on my shoulder yelling “You need to wake up!”Excuse me? You do realize I was sedated, you think I’m just gonna be walky talky after that? And they just rush you out of there to get the next patient in. Then when I would go to my follow up appointments, they would spend about 2 minutes with me and send me home, not even addressing my concerns.This place and staff are terrible. I wouldn’t ever come back, find somewhere else.

I had to have a tooth emergently extracted after finding out the tooth was broken and posed a serious risk for infection. My primary dentist is wonderful and tried to get me in to a dental surgeon who could see me the same day and Dr Urquhart had an open appointment.I was both upset and nervous that I had to have a tooth extracted and was greeted by Dr Urquhart who seemed to be extremely rushed and straight to business. I have had a tooth extracted twice before and both times the Oral Surgeons went out of their way to put me at ease, to look me in the eyes and to make me feel comfortable. My chart was stared at, the procedure briefly explained and I felt like Dr Urquhart just wanted to get the procedure over with and me out of his office.It is important to me that I know the clinician working on me sees me as more than a procedure charge and takes the adequate time to see me as a human being and to show compassion for what I was going through - I felt this piece to be extremely lacking in my experience with Dr Urquhart. I am not sure if it was just a one-off, busy day, but this is not the “care” I was envisioning on this day. Patients want to know their Providers care and see them as more than a name on a chart. I visited my primary dentist for follow up care because I did not want to have another experience like that again.

The extraction ha to be done carefully son the piece was cracked . The staff made all the pre-op and provided accurate information. De. Urquhart was friendly, informative , and compassionate. It had to do when IV sedation and even that was painless. I decided to have my oral surgery here because I thought my first visit was okArriving for my surgery, I was given the post operation sheet.This is my 3rd surgery in less than a year, and everytime they will let me know what to do or not to do and what to expect before the surgery.This time this wasn’t the case, I got there and I’m given a sheet for post operative care.I can read so I start readingThe assistant comes to call me to the backWhile reading the sheet I realized I didn’t have any of the stuff I’m supposed to be eating after the surgery so I said to myself, if I had known this I would have gotten them last night.The assistant says to me, “ok do you want to do this or not” with that tone of voice. I was surprised because working in the health sector requires sympathy and empathy not making people feel you dont careShe goes on to ask me to put the sheet down and lie down.I explained to her I live alone (which was about the fifth time I was telling anyone at this practice) so I needed to finish reading the post operative care before I get the anesthesia since I’m going to be impaired and not alert for awhile.She got upset went out and brought the RN, I said same to the RN and she was like ok and left.The assistant this time goes to bring the doctor who tells me thats for post operative care so I should put it down and lie down. I insisted I finish reading because I remember after my first surgery I almost died as a result of gap in communication at the hospital.The doctor leftI felt uncomfortable and thought I was being unreasonable because no one thought I needed to know my post operative care before the surgery so while recovering, I watch a bunch of YouTube videos on oral surgery and no I wasnt wrong. The doctors office is supposed to review the document with you before which wasnt done.In a week, Im back for my review. taking to the back by this same assistant with same attitude, no problem it will be over soon, I tell myself.She takes me to the nurses office.If Im going to a doctors office to be seen by anyone apart from the doctor I signed up to see I should be told prior and I will make the decision to go or not, no I wasnt told. The knowledge of a doctor and a nurse are definitely not same thats why they go to different schools.During the visit, the nurse is carrying a syringe and demonstrates to me how its used and handed it to me.First I thought its the one for demonstration and I was going to get a different one to take home but I realized thats the same one Im to take home.Its not covered, its open and not put in anythingFor a second I thought, whats the hygienic implications of this, this is supposed to be a doctors office and hygiene a priority.I kept my cool and asked if I could get something to put the open syringe in and Im handed a storage bag, I get up to head home, surprised and disappointed

Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and professional. I received excellent care. I only wish I had gotten to see the teeth I had removed! The waiting room is also very comfortable and attractive.

You wont be disappointed. As a general dentist, I have worked with many oral surgeons over the last 10 years, including in big cities like Washington D.C., Dr. Urquhart has an unparalleled talent. Not only is he skilful but he is very delicate and compassionate. We are lucky to have him in our area as a practitioner and teacher.

Dr. Urquhart is wonderful. I am not a fan of going to the dentist, but he made the experience as good as it could be. Really wonderful staff, too.

Unethical business practice. Came in to do an oral surgery without the insurance, was quoted the price, paid $460 dollars, and then got a bill from a third party for another $300 for lab services. Was never informed about any other fees. They dont want to take responsibility. Doctors are worse then lawyers, and auto mechanics. They bank on your health and dont care about doing the right thing. Our health system is pure garbage.
