I was hospitalized here after an interaction with the Mobile Crisis Unit. I was led to a room where I waited to see a doctor for several hours before being led to a private room where I had to stay with an adult at all times . They stopped all my medication and forgot to bring us food. They only remembered to give me food once, a turkey sandwich, even though I told them I was a vegetarian. They provided none for my mother who was forced to stay there with me, so she just ate the turkey sandwich. I was there for two days and was scared for most of it. Also someone broke our cars window while it was in the hospitals parking garage.

Horrible place to work. Would not recommend any clients to this place. Yes, the place is completely infested with mice. Yes, the company only has their own interests at heart. There is zero compassion within staff to the clients and when you try to be, the higher ups write you up. Do NOT allow yourself or any family end up there.

If I could give zero I would. Called two weeks ago to ask about outpatient services. Never called me back. Had to call the next week to learn that they had no spaces available. In other words, a wasted week. Imagine if someone in a precarious state called and got the same response. Garbage institution. Garbage staff. Stay the hell away.

Where do I start?? Is any crisis center going to be a great experience? Honestly mine wasnt that bad. I was introduced by a young female social worker who helped me calm down from my panic attack earlier. Most of the employees seemed mad, but a dashing yet composed male social worker who clearly works out was really great during the evaluation. It did take forever, but I did see a brown resident with a great beard really took the cake. I couldnt even believe he was a doctor. Dude was a blast! Finally I was discharged by some guy wearing paper scrubs (I cant believe this guy is the main doctor). Overall it was a positive experience. They refused to give me Ativan, but spent time providing some skills and resources. If I saw these guys in the streets, Id wave and buy them a drink!

Great place to eat nothing but processed cheese sandwiches, get in fights, get lied to, get stolen from, and fear for your life. There is not much else you can accomplish here. DO NOT GO HERE. If you have to, you have to, but I would not ever suggest trying to come anywhere near this place. In fact, avoid calling 911 at all costs! Call someone you love first!

Worse than a prison. My girlfriend came here voluntary, and was treated like a prisoner. The staff constantly lied about when she would be evaluated. They would say a few minutes and tell her to be patient, then hours go by with no information. At least prisoners are told the truth when they ask for an appeal. After a while, all she wanted was to go home. They then refused to give her a second evaluation and hospitalized her against her will. Also, there were mice everywhere at night. The staff even joked about teaching them tricks when my girlfriend complained about them. Make sure you are serious about wanting to commit suicide when you call 911. Because if you arent, you will want to after your stay here.

This place will make you way more irrational than you already are. This place shouldn’t be equipped to make a decision rather you should be hospitalized because they find everyone paranoid! If you’re surrounded around ppl you don’t know and ppl walking around in paper gowns yes you will show paranoia..... they are full of lies and they are very rude! Pretty much give programmed lies instead of the truth I’m currently dealing with them and I would not recommend no one going there

Plan to wait for hours to be seen. One doctor on staff is ridiculous considering the amount of patients in need of care. Go somewhere else if you have a choice! If you have a family member that suffers from a mental illness please I urge you to start advocating for them! They should not be put through such disgraceful treatment. They need help just like anyone with a physical condition. Pathetic that there arent other choices! Avoid it if you can. I only gave one star so that this would post. REALITY is, I would rate it a ZERO! I dont blame the staff, I blame the administration, its sickening!

Member of staff threatened to take a patient outside and beat him up. Youre given one pair of paper-like clothes to wear, have to ask for a toothbrush, I still dont even know where the shower was or if one even existed after being held there against my will for four days. Never got a hair brush either. They dont tell you whats going on and youre left in the dark, staring at walls between questionable meals, wondering if theyll really hold you for the maximum amount of time theyre allowed to by law, because no one seems to listen your pleas to get out. Didnt even know where I was until another patient informed me of the name of the place. Creepy bug I never saw before crawling in the dining area. They will push meds on you (multiple times) and threaten to keep you longer if you dont consent to sharing your mental health records with someone youre living with. A lot of ppl experiencing psychosis seemed overmedicated. Some of the staff look down on the patients/dont want to acknowledge them/answer their question(s).

I find the reviews mildly amusing. What do you expect? THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN! If you dont like the accommodations at CDPC, then try to keep it together. It is hard, but thats just the way it is. Its disgusting there. The staff is pretty awful, uneducated, they enjoy escalating situations and making fun of the patients, but again, THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN. It is what it is. And if you are a parent bringing your child there, maybe, just maybe, you might consider what you did to your child to need to bring him to a mental health clinic because children are not born into this world damaged on their own without our help. Dont blame the staff for what you did wrong. Im not saying CDPC is blame free, like I said its Disgusting. Full of bugs. Nasty, awful, bagged, prison type food, not enough beds for people to even sleep in most times, its actually worse than prison conditions. It probably should be investigated by the state. Why isnt it? Because the world isnt fair. It wont ever be, so get used to it. Now that Trump is president, you better start soon.

Breaks you even more than you were before...spent 24 hrs in CDPC then 5 days at Albany Med psych where they did basically nothing...i was pretty much better off saying nothing...they like making you more mentally ill so the psychiatry industry gets richer by the insurance companies...not like you get anything from mine...i was treated differently cause i was disabled which isnt anything new to me all these months...myself and other patients compared it to a prison due to the hard mattress on beds, privacy level (example: door stall of bathroom that doesnt even close), personal items snatched away (my cell phone was taken away without telling me like a normal hospital would), and plate glass partition around the reception area...if any other hospital is reading this review, i beg you to buy out CDPC and Albany Med Center too...it is appalling what they put people through...not only me but other patients i witnessed...this place needs a complete overhaul asapbtw, to reviewer Adnil Oag: we are not all truly suicidal, homicidal or psychotic who get admitted to Albany Med psych ward from CDPC but the place dont listen and we have no one who stands up for us to discharge us first...so please dont all cap that in your false 5 star review of this horrible place...you obviously work for this place and never been on the patient end which is not fun at all

Do not ever choose to be admitted to this hospital. The staff will not keep you safe in the fact that any potentially harmful items you have with you- tweezers, blow dryer etc. that they are supposed to make sure you check in the staff does not pay attention whatsoever. If I was still feeling as suicidal in this death hole as I did when I arrived, I could have ended it no problem. It is not a safe or clean place. My room was full of ants and I was accused of drawing the ants into the room with my dirty socks rather then the staff address the problem. It was only several nights into my stay that I was finally moved to a different ant-free room. You will only see a doctor 2-3 times if you are there 8-10 days. The only good thing I will say is the doctor was very kind but the nursing staff is deplorable and should be in jail for the lack of attention and care they show those who are suffering.

Rarely is there a need for a negative star. But CDPC certainly worked hard at earning at least 4 or 5 negative stars. I am convinced it takes effort to be this bad at your job, and if you meet these folks you can see they are actually proud of being dysfunctional and will cover each others backs like school aged children, telling one lie after another. To be fair CDPC is good at one thing, they are amazingly good at providing misinformation and double speak.-There were mice around in the rooms. Sanitation was a clear issue. While we were visiting my brother, a patient had spilled fair amount of water on the floor near the entrance door. I sat there for more than a half hour pointing it out to other patients and staff members to make sure no one slipped. One of the patients ended up picking up a large heavy chair and placing it over the water. Nurses, maintenance and the literally walked around it with no regard. Does that sound irresponsible and lazy? Well that snap shot defines CDPC down to its very core.-Its shocking and sad that the staff there clearly do not care at all about the patients well being or the safety of others. I will be reporting this but I think its all important to also let the general public know that there is no excuse for stuff like this, it isnt anyones fault except for the clearly incompetent management and borderline criminal behavior by the acting staff.-Heres what everyone needs to know. These are your tax payer dollars being wasted on shameful stuff. File legitimate complaints. These facilities are NY state funded and are designed to be triage for mental health patients seeking help, or that are placed there because they have no insurance and no support network. Its not really designed or funded to be the world class facilities. I get that but rather than being functional and organized its is an example of government waste and dysfunctionality. I have to assume that all the funding goes to overpaid management because there is simply no way that this place is spending its money on lower level staff or in general maintenance. I even wondered if there was some corruption somewhere going on because it seem entirely illogical that the CDPC was this screwed up. It literally doesnt make sense that someone could screw thing sup that badly unless they were trying or were hiding something. If one were to look at other states mental health services that arent as messed up as NYS, it is clear that they actually have qualified personal, with out condescending attitudes and double speak, and nice clean facilities. Unlike CDPC they are actually safe and sanitary.-That said, these places are not supposed to be a luxury hotel or even super well funded, but that doesnt mean that they have to 3rd world bad either. I get that a metal health in patient facility can be chaotic. The staff will be the first ones to tell you that, but its more of a programmed response than the truth about what is really going on and how lazy they really are. But having seen this and spoken to the general manger there (Caesar) I believe its more of a major disaster waiting to happen. Its shameful that our tax dollars are being spent on this highly dysfunctional excuse for a psychiatric center.-Once a patient is admitted, if you are there to make sure that you family or loved one gets prompt and ethical treatment you will be disappointed and maybe even yelled at. Patients are given a blanket diagnoses by psychiatrists who will not really meaningful spend any time to decipher between drug side effects mental illness. I really wish these guys got paid like they work, slow and meandering with out any clear answers or regard for other people time. If you ask too many questions and actually need the patient information with an interest in transferring your loved one or family member to a more humane and compliant facility you will most likely be stonewalled. They wont let you sign HIPA letter allowing the patient to give you the right to access records and find better care.

Awful place, I would not recommend anyone to take their child there EVER!!!! They treat you and your child like a case instead of an individual. They do not understand or care about personal circumstances that prevent you to committing to an appointment even when you call to reschesule. They only have a limited schedule and do not work around your childs school schedule or your work schedule. The secretary is very rude and asks personal questions pertaining to your child and gives advice although its not her profession. For two weeks straight I left messages for my childs nurse practitioner and she NEVER returned my phone call. The waiting room ia filthy and not welcoming. There is NO level of understanding when it comes to needing to reschedule an appointment for whatever reason. Your wait time is over 30 minutes plus the time a therapist sits with your child. There is no action plan and most of the therapist there either transferred from a different place or different floor but are not aware of your childs needs before taking on the case. They were NO help to my child at all. I have spoken to people on the street who have mentored my child better than these people who supposedly have degrees. Talk to other people or parents, dont take your child here if you want positive results. They are interested in putting your child on meds and keeping them dosed up not helping you as a family unit cope with your childs disease. Bipolor disorder is a disease, these people dont care about our children.

This place is not fit for a human, regardless of their psychological problems. I was there for 22 hours before I was seen by a Crisis Worker and 24 hours to see an actual doctor. The only thing they evaluate is whether you will essentially kill yourself or others, or not. You do not have private rooms, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and unkempt. You get a little bowl of cereal, yogurt and fruit for breakfast and lunch and dinner consists of dry sandwich bread with cheese...thats it. I am thankful that there werent any truly crazy people there while I was there, because youre basically confined in one room with everyone else, and there is virtually no supervision. The nurse that hands out medication like its candy, cant tell you what the medicine does. What kind of people does this institution employ? Why have you assigned a nurse to dispense medications, when she has no clue what they are or what they do! I was givensomeone elses medication which turned out to be high dose effexor, klonopin and some other drug I wasnt supposed to take. After sitting in the waiting room for an hour, while I started to feel dizzy, drunk, and out of it, one of the doctors took me back and said I was given the wrong meds. All I was told was to tell them if I started to feel weird. The lack of care and attention is truly appauling. The nurses dont seem to really care about CARING for the patients there, everyone is basically just shooed aside. They dont refer you to other help, other than giving you a piece of paper with other doctors. If you need help, please choose to go somewhere else. The process is extremely inefficient and will only make your psychological issues worse. If you are having psychological issues, choose to go anywhere else but Albany Medical Center(AMC). If you go through their emergency room, you will sit in a bed with nothing to do other than staring at the ceiling for 24 hours.

CDPC Crisis Center is a psychiatric EMERGENCY ROOM for people having a psychiatric crisis. Their only job is to decide if you need to be hospitalized or not.YOU WILL BE HOSPITALIZED if you are suicidal, homicidal, or too psychotic to functionThey do NOT refill medications, psychotherapy, or set up appointments. If you come here, you may be stuck there for hours before you see the doctor. This is a TEMPORARY STOP before going to the hospital.

NEVER HAVE YOUR CHILD THERE!!!!This is the worst place, with a bunch of Quacks as doctors, they dont care about any of their patients. If your child is there make sure you have a family member with them at all times. All they do is sedate kids and put them to sleep and stay in the the office all day, not checking on the child or anything not even knowing if the child has a reaction to the medicine they were given because they just sit in the office. Beware of this place!!!!!!!!!!
