Oh my goodness!!! The office staff is so annoying with the not picking up the phone!!!After calling for hours and finally getting someone to pick up so that I can get a note so my child can get back to school. The office told me that they will call me later so that I can pick up the note it has now been two days . I thought I was just going to be a simple task , guess not! They need better phone etiquette and it looks like they need more help in the office.. GET IT TOGETHER Albany medical pediatric staff!

I had my daughter 16 years ago at Albany medical center, I did the follow up at Albany med Pediatrics ever since. I have no problem.I know now everyone is trying to schedule a physical for school and they are very busy to answer the phone so they are taking messages. What is wrong with that?I think they are great 👍

Ive had a great experience with AMC pediatrics so far. My daughter was born premature and had to stay in the NICU. As a first time parent I felt overwhelmed and didnt really know what the best steps would be for her health care. Ive been going here ever since she got discharged and the doctors have been taking great care of her.I never really have to wait long, and when I call theyre always nice!

I work at a Nursing Facility and trying to conduct an appointment setup and or confirmation of an appointment is a complete nightmare as no one ever answers the phone. i have been on hold for 45 mins now and going ...its very prudent for my facility to confirm these appointments. Can someone at Albany Medical make sure the person who is suppose to answers the phone knows how to answer the phones? Very unacceptable.less than one star If I could. Work on this problem

We switched from Albany Family Medicine to this practice in 2020 because we wanted our daughter to be seen by pediatricians instead of family doctors. Were currently continuing to use them because we qualified for financial assistance, but have plans to leave as soon as our discount expires. They do not answer their phones. It is nearly impossible to reach them for the simplest thing: setting up, cancelling, or rescheduling an appointment. Need nurses station for a question? Forget about it. Have an actual emergency? Just go elsewhere. Our appointments have ranged from seeing over-eager residents to competent nurses. The resident we saw was offputting; she administered a form incorrectly to us (9mo questionnaire) and then referred us to Early Intervention despite the fact that she herself said she didnt see a need for it and just wanted to be safe referring now since it can take such a long time for EI to see kids. However--thats part of the reason EI has such a long backlog! They get too many overly cautious referrals. The other thing is that after deciding to refer us to EI, the residents tone completely changed. She went from treating us as equals to using kid gloves, acting like my questions were invalid because shed already made the decision to refer us.On our follow up (rash) we blew her out of the water by letting her know we had re-administered the form shed given us on our prior visit and after actual observation, found our daughter was doing tasks wed marked no to simply because we hadnt directly observed/tested. However, her over-eager manner didnt disappear as she became obsessed with the rash she had. We tried everything in the book, but it kept coming back. (Were still not sure what happened there. She had multiple, varied rashes on her legs, thighs, diaper area, neck, and face, and while sometimes they got better, they wouldnt disappear. And then in October they all just magically vanished. She still has some scars but hasnt had any of those issues since that time.) And then she referred us to a dermatologist (cool) and a neurologist (what????) and made the appointments without our input, only informing us of them afterwards. She had determined that despite our daughter displaying no neurological symptoms, she had a very rare neurological condition that as a side effect sometimes--not even all times--had a rashy condition as part of it, which was always preceded by a cleft palate (so she shouldnt have even considered this as a possibility since she didnt have that...).It made no sense. We saw the dermatologist and that was a disappointment. We did not even see a doctor, and the PA only looked at her rashes from a distance, and then gave us a script for an eczema cream that cost $200 (that was after testing with insurance, with cash discount, etc.--best price) on the off chance it would work, all in addition to the $200 we had to pay at the time of the appointment just to see someone that wouldnt even look at my daughters actual issues. Luckily, since it went away shortly after that--with no intervention--we didnt have to go to the follow up, neurologist, or get the script. However, she caused our family undue stress and worry for no reason.Since then we havent seen her or had issues, but Im still incredibly frustrated by the fact that I can only 1 out of 10 times reach staff at the office for the most simple things, like scheduling.

What a joke. I have been going here for years with all my kids. Mostly because our insurance was taken and they had all all records but after this last visit I am done. My son was very sick on a Monday and so I brought him in they told me it was viral as per usual. Nothing they could give me I know my son and I asked for steroids and an antibiotic anyway cause I know how quickly he can spiral of of control. I take him to on call 5 days later because he still wasnt any better guess what they gave him steroids and an antibiotic and 12 hours later he is a different kid. He suffered for 5 days for nothing. When your doctors dont listen to you as a parent move on and find someone who will.It is not the first time this has happened either. I go to my primary because that is what I am supposed to do and a few days later I am at on call anyway and they actually give him medicine that turns him right around.

I absolutely love Dr. Schottler, she is the only reason they got more than 1 star. She is who both of my girls have gone to since they were born and she’s phenomenal. The office itself however is horrible. No one ever answers the phone! I have called there 4 times since yesterday, sat on hold for 10+ minutes each time, and I can’t get through. There’s not even a voice mail option to leave messages. I had the same problem a few months ago while trying to get paperwork sent for my girls to switch schools and I ended up having to fax them after the third day of trying and wait two more days for someone to call me back and acknowledge my request. Ridiculous.

Nobody answers the phone the clinic line. Always! We tried 5 times in a span of a week on different time of the day.We had to go personally to the clinic to ask something and schedule flu vaccination for my daughter. I hate to say this but if my insurance is not mainly designed around albany med I will go somewhere else.Update: Still the worst. Nobody answers the phone. I work at AMC and I can’t believe how horrible the pediatric clinic in customer service.

Dr. Schottler is the best pediatric doctor. She has advocated for my child since we left the NICU years ago. She is the reason my child is growing so strong and healthy. I use the portal where I can send a message and a nurse always calls me. I drop off paperwork and pick it up a week later with no problem. I have used the oncall numerous times and I was impressed with the care. After a really scary start to my kiddos life, I owe Dr. Schottler so much gratitude for getting us on the right track.

I cant describe how horrible this practice is. Where to start, well first of all they told me that they needed to do blood work to check to see if my infant has a hereditary blood clotting disorder that I carry. After the NA fished around my childs arm for a good 20 minutes (causing extreme bruising) She left the specimen out and it clotted ( no longer usable). Next they recommended I go to the lab. So I did well they checked her for the wrong thing. Then told me my child DOES NOT have this clotting disorder. We went to our follow-up and she said I need the baby to be tested again as they didnt check for the correct thing. Come to find out she DOES have this clotting disorder. Last week I get a call telling me that they have to reached her appointment (No Problem) I call and I have been on hold for 40 minutes as they cant seem to find a time to reschedule her. This place is an absolute Horrific Joke. Good Luck to anyone that brings their child here.

Love certain doctors here, but not so much others. The problem with a huge practice like this, your follow ups are rarely with the same doctor, especially if its urgent or you have to reschedule. We have one we absolutely love! Dr. McKee went over and beyond to help us and checked up on us when we had to go back to NICU for treatment and has always been patient with the million questions we had. :)Urgent appointments weve always gotten in same day and theyre always happy to answer questions over the phone!

My daughter has been a patient for 9 years now. Starting at age 1. Shes a very medically complex child so we needed a doctor that had direct ties to her specialists that are also located at the Albany med campus. We had a wonderful doctor named Dr. Katherine Dougherty. We absolutely loved her! Anything we needed, she got it done! Now insurance changes, career changes etc... Have taken our doctor from us and we are bounced around to any random doctor. They never answer the phone, Ive waited 20 minutes before they answered the phone. Their records department is an absolute mess, they lose requests, say they sent the records and never actually did. For some reason, they delete copies of physicals within weeks of the physical. So if you want records a month or more after their visit, you have to wait 3 days for them to recreate the report from the information in the system and get it in person or wait another week for it to be mailed. I will say, their former receptionist was incredibly difficult to understand, she had an attitude and always sounded like she had a mouthful of food or something. The receptionist I spoke with today, I caught her name, was an absolute sweetheart! Good job Avery for making my horrible experience so much more tolerable! Give that girl a raise because she had to answer the phone calls of dissatisfied parents! Please get better AMPG! Your patients deserve better!

Here is my experience. I took my 3 year old daughter for her cough and they asked my preferred pharmacy. I told to the Walmart pharmacy is my preference.I went to Walmart pharmacy 3 to 4 times on Thursday and every time they were saying they didn’t receive any prescription from doctor.I called Albany med and explained the situation to them on Friday morning. They said prescription went to CVS and they are going to cancel that and sending a new one to my preferred pharmacy. I went to Walmart after few hours and the answer was same.”We didn’t receive any prescription from doctor“I called Albany med again and explained the same. They said that they are going to send it right away. I waited few hours and went to Walmart and response was same from Walmart pharmacy.Today is Saturday and Albany med is closed. My daughter still coughing Lot. I may need to take her to ER. What a shameful situation.

They open at 8:30am. I call at 8:31am. Im on the phone waiting for someone to answer for FIFTY SEVEN MINUTES!!!!! Then when someone finally does pick up they transfer my call before I can even get one word out my mouth and I end up ON HOLD FOR ANOTHER HOUR AND THIRTEEN MINUTES!!!!!!The call wait times were always obscenely long, but this is on another level entirely!!! Im literally calling one minute after the office opens!!! Your telling me that they have a TWO HOUR AND TEN MINUTE PHONE WAIT TIME ONE MINUTE AFTER OPENING?!?!?!I wish that there was somewhere that I could report this office to that actually cared about this problem!!!Last time it was so bad that I ended up calling a cab and PAYING TO GO TO THE OFFICE IN PERSON TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT!!!!Oh and when I got there, the two receptionists were having a personal conversation about what they did with their families the previous weekend and the phones were ringing non stop and they completely ignored them!!! I made a comment about how they should do their jobs and answer the phones and I got the window shut in my face and told that now I could wait till all the calls were finished before I was helped!!!!!If you want great doctors for your child, with no way to get appointments for your child to see the great doctors then THIS IS THE RIGHT OFFICE FOR YOU!!!
