Called and left messages 5 times for a new patient appt . Then had to call back and finally got a women who took all my information and said they would call me back for an appointment. Never happened. So I called nyortho and they answered and made an appointment immediately. Thats how its supposed to work. Very unprofessional and unorganized place. Obviously no one who works there is accountable

My experience with a family member was horrific and torturous. Although they had severe pain no seemed to really care. Hsd to beg for pain medication snd nothing was given till the day they died. It was a terrible experience . In the end stage of cancer they were left in pain till the last day. Also even though they were in end of lufe stsges they continued to move her around every couple hours yo prevent bed sores which sent her into seizure activity. In the last days my concern was on quality and comfort not whether shr was going to get a bed sore. I dont dontk they undestood. It was a terrible horrific experience one unskilled aid bumped her stretcher into s wall moving her snd said to the other unskilled aid that they were comfort care. Bumping someone hard into a wall is not comfort care to me and almost sent her into shock. Worst experience of my life

Ive been a patient at The Albany Center For Pain Management for six years. In my experience, Dr. Apicella has been an understanding, sympathetic and extremely competent pain management physician, supported by an equally supportive and competent pain management Nurse Practitioner, Sarah. Luisa, who schedules my appointments, has always been attentive to my special needs and has always scheduled me for needed procedures promptly in order to minimize my pain. I am very happy with the treatment I have received at this professionally staffed facility.

Cant seem to get a script refilled smoothly. Not 1 time in the last 7 months has a refill go without making multiple phone calls to the Drs office & the pharmacy to get a script refilled.Im gonna need a new script for my nerves after trying get to get a simple script refill. .FYI. Thank you to the state of NY for making it more difficult & complicated for the Drs to get the medication to patients. Its always a joy to make a mountain out of a mole hill, reinvent the wheel so it wont roll down a steep grade. But I see you have accomplished this task with 5 stars !!!!!(Sarcasm I think ?)

Rude staff. Do not recommend unless front staff is changed. And what’s worse is they are supposed to help with pain management and I got told beforehand that more than likely they could not help mine. Who do they treat, those with splinters? Definitely not anyone with Ehlers Danlos in which pain is on similar scale as cancer. Stay away. 1 Star was too much

Dr. Carl tries to send his patients to Dr. Apicella. I refuse as both interactions with him have resulted in disastrous outcpmes. The first when he worked with Arvinder Singh, left me paralyzed from cervical diskitis which evolved into osteomyelitis. The second was an in-office procedure where he injected the wrong area, hit a nerve and caused numbness in both legs. They kept me in the back sitting in a wheelchair (while not telling my husband, in the waiting room what was happening) until the feeling returned to my legs (an hour later). The doctor came out to get new patients several times, saw me sitting there in the wheelchair and not once was he alerted as to why I was still there. All I have to do is hear his name any more, to get an instant panic reaction!

Be prepared to be your own advocate and make sure you call them to schedule your appointments! There is zero follow up to referrals, I’ve been overlooked multiple times for weeks waiting for a phone call to set up procedures only to be told that I “got lost in the system” or “someone didn’t notice that I needed another appointment on the Dr’s note”. The communication between this office and the neurosurgeon’s office is nonexistent. If you have any other choice, go somewhere else. It’s been almost a year for me and I am still in excruciating pain. I gave the extra star for the Doctor (and her staff) who performed the injections because, though they didn’t work, I suffered no ill effects.EDIT: since the previous review I have raised them from 2 to 4 stars. This is because they have gone out of their way to “make it right”. Though I still say you should definitely contact them if you don’t hear from them, they are by in large a good office trying to do the right thing. Maybe I was a fluke, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt now that they have shown their eagerness to listen to my problems and help in any way that they could.

Absolutely LOVE Doc Apicella & Pam (who recently retired :-( ). Ive been their patient for approximately 25 yrs & I must say their is no one else I would allow to treat me for my Chronic Pain after 4 Spinal Fusions. They are absolutely awesome in what they do to help their patients minimize their pain. I pray that Doc A doesnt retires for a very long time because as I said, I wouldnt trust anyone else to perfprm the procedrrs that he does & he does an EXCELLENT JOB PLUS HIS BEDSIDE MANNERS are like no other Doc Ive ever seen. :-)

They seemed great on my first visit but I shouldve known better when it took them 2 months to send a request to comp. Long story short they put a huge needle into my back and all it did was cause worst pain. I called and left a message to talk to someone about it at noon. 3:45 I have a voice mail from a nurse saying to use ice and Tylenol. After 6 days of pain Id hope anyone would try ice and Tylenol. As soon as I got the message I called back and of course they are now closed. I leave another message explaining the pain and how ice and Tylenol do nothing. Im still waiting for a call back if I knew it would be like this I would not have ever let them touch me I got less then 4 hours of sleep and Im in so much pain I feel like Im losing my mind.

If you don’t keep following up, they forget you’re waiting for a procedure to be scheduled. Happened to me twice. Two weeks later and still waiting for the next one.
