Didnt give a 1 because at least I didnt die while under their care, if you break a bone or have a non life threatening emergency its probably worth driving a few hours elsewhere. It took 7 hours to be admitted for a broken ankle to be told there was no one in to consult if I needed surgery and to come back in the AM. I could have Amazon Primed crutches for $65 and had the same experience that ended up costing over $1000 with insurance.

It Sucks. It takes forever to get admitted. They dont have beds to accommodate patients. So many people are sitting in waiting room to get their chance. Its supposed to be the areas largest hospital and have such a bad emergency room services. Serious patients might die before getting any medical service. Patients are waiting more than 4 hours. This is general emergency during pandemic. It is a shame even third world countries have better access to emergency room. Supposed to be fast and efficient.

The ICU staff were very attentive and caring. They kept our family well informed on what to expect next in the care of our family member. They were patient and gave us the time and space we needed to make important care choices. RN Cutis and the Pulmonary team were available for counseling as questions arose. Thank you for the great service and patience with our family during a difficult time.

I had such a wonderful experience with all three doctors and their staff - surgeon, chemo and radiation. i didnt give a 5 star because my major complaint is their billing system. $25 owed and it was sent it to collection agency to threaten me. No call or letter to inform me of my balance owed. I paid my bill another time and next month it still appears as owing but this time its the collection agencies calling. Somebody needs to have them sort their billing n collection policies. Thank goodness I always take note of my time, date and amount paid. Got to keep record with them and their billing. Warning make sure and check your account. After querying my already paid bill I learned that the collection agency had a bill for a mammogram from 2017 owing. I always had insurance so now i have to go find proof of why this wasnt paid.

The MD was very competent. The nurse I had seemed competent but I was there for 7 hours and saw her when my IV went in and when it came out. it seemed no one cared about the patients. I asked 4 different nurses questions each said Ill find out and not one returned with an answer. The person who brought me had to stay in the cold parking garage for hours because Albany was unknown to us and no one is allowed in the hospital while waiting. You cant even get a drink of water. Im told St. Peters used to be a good hospital with a caring staff. Not any more.

St. Petes saved my life, gave me all options to consider from knowledgeable caring staff, gave me phone charger when mine died, immediately had docs from various specialties when needed, food was SO good, free park for same day drivers, fast check in, paid my taxi home late night over 2 hrs. away with constant communication til wee hours due to some transportation issues so THANKS Emmanuel for being instrumental in getting me home safe going WAY above beyond, have some AMAZING, caring know their stuff calming nurses, staff, docs who are there with you and for you 24 7 365 for any physical, financial or emotional needs, heck a tech nurse who didnt know how far I lived instantly offered to pay my ride; others followed up to see how I was. Sucks to have to be in hospitals but cant go wrong with this one! Free TV/phone.Theride.com long distance taxi and Donald were also crucial in getting me home. Donald was calm caring, asked if I wanted snacks, great convo or quiet and made 100% sure I was home safe while going nearly 5 hrs. out of his way. Cant thank you enough!

I had a very pleasant experience at St. Peter’s during my recent admission. The doctors, nurses, techs as well as imaging department was simply fantastic. The doctors did some thorough analysis on my condition just to ensure I’m all well. Special thanks to Tech Anna and Nurse Mike from ER. Being in the ER is so stressful but they both went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable and well taken care. Nurse Tashiana and Andromeda and tech Jen you guys are amazing too! Thank you for attentively looking after me while I stayed at room 4219. Nurse Andromeda I felt so lucky to have you taking care of me. Thank you so so much for every little care you have given me. Truly hope St. Peter’s management read this and notices your names. The hospital is lucky to have you all! God bless you for your dedications!

My nephew was bought by ambulance to St. Peter’s unresponsive and no heartbeat on August 2nd.When I got the call at 2:30 , I called St Peter’s to find out what was going on with my nephew. He arrived there to the hospital at 3:00 , I kept calling the hospital, they kept telling me that they didn’t have him there . Perfectly understandable why at 2:30 they had no information in regards to him .I found out on Thursday ( not from the hospital) that some incompetent put the wrong wrist band on him ( to top it off , it was a female name , some computer generated John Doe ) even though they had his name . I don’t care how much is going on in an emergency room or anything, YOU MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT PERSON BEFORE YOU PUT AN IDENTITY BRACELET ON THEM . The ambulance gave them his correct name.To make matters worse, NOT ONE person in authority has returned a phone call to apologize or explain how such an incompetent thing happened. My family went hours without knowing what was going on & no one to ask . It wasn’t until 5:27 pm that the CORONER called me to inform me that my nephew was dead .Measures were taken to identify my nephew that were not necessary given the FACT THAT THE HOSPITAL HAD HIS NAME from the TIME HE GOT THERE . My nephew should have NEVER BEEN A JOHN DOE …. NEVER !!!!!MY FAMILY DESERVES ANSWERS AND WILL NOT STOP UNTIL WE GET THEM .SHAME ON YOU ST. PETERS , SHAME ON YOU !You do not get to cause unnecessary stress and anxiety to a family and think that it is ok .WE WILL GET THE ANSWERS WE SEEK ONE WAY OR ANOTHER !

This review is not about the debacle that happened the 5 days I was in your hospital recovering from surgery, but rather when I was released. I was given 2 prescriptions to help maintain the severe pain I was in. When I got to the pharmacy they only had 2 pills left of the medication I was prescribed and were not getting any more in for a week. I spent the past 5 days with only half the medication and 3 times the pain. This is not right....The surgeon s office said this is the hospitals fault and there is nothing they can do.

The Patient Relations dept. is extremely unprofessional. I contacted Patient Relations to follow up about a grievance letter I mailed detailing a negative experience that I had in St Peters Breast Center on 6.10.20. The only 2 people that work in Patient Relations named Megan and Heather are unprofessional and dont know how to communicate. When I wanted to report their lack of professionalism and the lack of communication to a manager, Megan informed me that there is no actual manager in this office that you can speak to directly. You have to leave your phone number and hope that youll receive a phone call. That is a very unorganized manner of conducting business. Heather called me 6.15.20 to confirm receipt of my grievance letter. She claimed that my concerns were forwarded to the Breast Center Director. I requested a letter or some document to confirm that my concerns were addressed and I had already said this to Heather. She tells me, Well, the Breast Center Director was made aware of your concerns. What else would you like us to do? I had already told Heather that I was requesting a letter to confirm that someone had addressed my concerns since the Breast Center Director hadnt actually contacted me. I repeated to her that I would like a letter sent to me verifying that my concerns were actually addressed. Heather eventually tells me a letter was sent and I should receive it soon. I still havent received any letter from this department. I called back 6/26 to follow up about not receiving the letter. Someone named Megan confirmed on 6.26.20 that Heather actually mailed my letter to the wrong address and she never confirmed my mailing address. I hope this department hires more staffing including a manager because it is unorganized and unprofessional to have an office that monitors patient grievances with only 2 people that are not managers. I was contacted by someone named Tushar Somani and it was pointless for me to speak to this individual. He does not work in this office and had no knowledge of the circumstances that occurred in the office with Heather and Megan. He even defended their lack of communication and their lack of professionalism. Im very disappointed in this department. Ive utilized St. Peters medical services for many years and never experienced this type of situation.

I had wonderful experiences at the hospital. The care I received was great and the staff and even the food was wonderful. However, all 3 times I’ve gotten bills from NPAS and every time they say they don’t have my health insurance info and try to bill me directly. You have to give them your health insurance info at least 3 times and ask to speak to a manager before they FINALLY bill your health insurance and then this last time, they billed my health insurance after months and then keep sending me a bill for $150 more than my insurance said I owed and they will not tell me what it is for and will not resubmit to my health insurance even though the total they are billing is $150 more than the total they submitted to my insurance to begin with! I’ve waisted countless hours on the phone with them. They do not return calls. The 3rd time they attempted to put it on the side of my wrist on my right hand & Also failed at that. I suggested that they’d try my hand & that’s when it finally worked. They tried to tell me it was because I had “Rolling veins” but I’ve never had this problem anywhere else. When I was in surgery the doctors did not try to calm me down, Instead they just scared me more than I already was. Once they took my son out of my stomach I couldn’t hear him cry so I asked them why & their response was “don’t worry about it”. Something is truly wrong with this place & I will never return back or suggest anyone to come here. Very sad!

Sitting here in the emergency waiting room on a Sunday night listening to the immature security gaurds playing obscene music, swearing. This is so inappropriate and the patients in the waiting area should not have to listen to this.

My mother and I went to the ER and we are truly amazed at the exceptional service which we received by the helpful nurses. Most importantly, Dr. Lina Finlan was outstanding and very knowledgeable!! Thanks to her, my mother is doing much better. I would highly recommend St. Peter’s Hospital!Best Regards,Anjum & Family

My son has an ear infection. They took to the back and made us sit in a chair. That took 2 hours. Finally got a room and 15 minutes later after my son throws up in front of the nurses they send us back to the waiting room. Im still here with my son covered in his throw in the waiting room. This is disgusting inhumane treatment. Will never come here again.

My Dad was brought down by ambulance left in the ER for 2 hrs waiting to be called back. Despite my multiple complaints. He was then sent to his room in the hallway. We then waited there another 6 hrs after he had been admitted, asking for water or ice chips. Hisnurse who started off great

St.Peters hospital continues to take the lead in area hospitals for disorganized and redundancy. Waited well over an hour for breakfast when mine did not show up. Signage is terrible. My bed was stripped at 6:30 am while the person who left yesterday their bed has not been stripped and empty food containers are still there.

Want to thank RN Desiree Anderson, & Nurse Tek Gale Banks for their exceptional care. Nurse Anderson, was incredibly professional, informative and attentive. Rarely do you find a nurse that encapsulates everything that a nurse should be. Gale is a ray of sunshine. She is accommodating and has the personality that makes you feel like you are at home as opposed to being in a hospital. It’s refreshing and relieving to experience such incredible care and it’s nice to know that nice people still exist.

As far as the Health care provided very very good service professional care. However the billing department needs serious help. I have been trying to get a receipt for months, can not get anyone on the phone or to return a phone call. When phone call was finally returned customer service was very rude.

Over all care was great 5 stars but some of the overnight staff need alot of work. We travel an hour there cause the hospital near us is horrible. However some of the staff need to be reeducation on being courteous of their patients. Its almost midnight and the over night people on the floor we are on are loud as hell. Hooting and hollering like there is a party going on. I dont know how anyone could sleep here. Let alone get any rest with all the chaos going on in the hallways outside patients rooms . I find it rude and completely out of line that it is aloud to happen. The patients are told to to rest so they can get better and yet the staff makes it nearly impossible for them to do so.

Definitely my go to Hospital in the future. I had a procedure in the cath lab and from the minute I entered the building I had an immediate sense that I was going to be in good hands. It started with the registration staff who were extremely professional and so pleasant. I arrived an hour early and within literally minutes I was escorted into the lab area. The staff in the lab were amazing. They put me at ease with their professional demeanor and friendly attitude..I almost forgot I was in a hospital..From beginning to end someone was always checking on my well-being and even made sure I was fed and hydrated after the procedure. I have been in Albany Med which is a great hospital but is a truck stop compared to St.Peters . Kudos to management and staff for getting the hospital mission on point. My warmest regards to all of you

Went in to the emergency department late evening. Was told by urgent care for them telling me I needed a CT scan. Waited over 6 hours. Never seen a MD. Staff was very rude. Nurse came of with morphine for me. No thanks Im not taking morphine. So that tells me someone is giving orders without them seeing me. After 6 hours nurse comes with discharge papers and never did the MD or PA come over to give me my results. Seems like St. Peters hospital is becoming just like Ellis hospital. Very sad

So aside from the fact you might have to pay to park. And the catering service is trying but has many misses. The staff are great. The RNs make the place, the doctors take time to speak with everyone and ensure every step is explained. Visiting hours are 9 to 9 so realize coming in late might result in visitors being turned away as you get settled. Also main entrance is not on New Scotland and is a bit hidden if under pressure or in garage as the walkway makes it feel like you are going the wrong way.

My husband brought to SPH three times in 3 months via ambulance. ER- great, ICU- great, palliative care- great, but the house doctors were the worst ( I know- Ive been an RN for 40 years). Once you are on the floor, you are kept in the dark by discharge planning, nursing, house staff, xray, interventional xray, dialysis and on and on. It was so demoralizing to be kept in the dark about everything. And here my husband and I sit-4pm and no one can tell us when he can leave and he was discharged this morning !!! Hate this place but I suspect all hospitals are the same.

Went to AMC at first and their resident dr diagnosed me with a viral illness they gave me 1500 mg of tylenol and sent me home. Two days later pain was unbearable all over my body, fever 103. Went to St Peters and they found out I had Lupus and sent me home with prednisone and I had no pain less than 24 hrs later. Got a rheumatologist and no issues since then.

I had surgery (metal plate with six screws) to secure a fractured tibia and was brought to St. Peter’s “6 Pavilion” for acute care. The block from surgery quickly wore off and I was in excruciating pain and agony. I kept telling the nurse that I was at a “10” pain level and could not bear it, but she would only give me a small amount of morphine every 4 hours (3 doses total) which gave me about an hour of relief and a total of 3 oxycodone which only helped a little with that level of pain. Plus, it would take forever for her to get it to me ( I’d have to hit the call button, wait for someone, explain to them I was past due for pain meds, they would say they’d tell my nurse . When and if the nurse came, I would have to explain again that I needed pain meds, she would say ok I’ll be with you shortly, then come 20 mins later to give meds that took 20 min to take effect). I asked one person if I could see a nursing supervisor ( hoping that they could help) and was told “I’m on the other side tonight and we are busy” (so l guess that meant no) When a doctor came to see me in the morning, he could tell I was in terrible pain and said of course I should be getting more morphine and pain relief and he would take care of it. He left and I didn’t see him again until the next day. When the ”day” nurse Rosie (who was starting her shift)and the night nurse Summer (who was ending her shift) came into my room together, I told them what the doctor had said. They told me to ”be quiet”. They said they would not give me more medicine because I “would stop breathing “. They said they dispense meds “at their discretion” and that I was “panicking“. I said No, I’m just trying to explain how much pain I have. They scolded me and said I needed to be “educated” and ”weened off“. I knew then that my situation was hopeless. This nurse “Rosie” gave me one oxy at 8:00 am then left and I didn’t see her again until around 3:00 pm when she gave me a Tylenol. ( I also heard her out in the hallway making fun of me a couple of times) I asked her then if she would please get me an ice pack and she said she’d have a tech get me one. (Of course I never got one). She also said “did you see PT yet?” and when I said no and she said ”that’s weird” and just left. That is the only time she came into my room the entire day after the berating she gave me that morning. Also, the cuff they put on my leg to prevent clots didn’t work, and I told at least 5 different people. Some said they would get me a new one (but never did) and one said it didn’t matter and “promised me” that I would not get a clot. My husband and sister tried to come help but the hospital would not allow visitors in because of the corona pandemic. They tried getting someone to get me some water to drink but were unsuccessful. Fortunately the new night nurse that I evening was great! She got me ice packs and water. She even looked under my brace and checked my leg. (no one else had done that) She brought pain meds in at the scheduled time without me having to beg. She seemed to care about me and my comfort! But that first night and day were just so BAD!! You just can’t make up for that horrible feeling lying their helpless and in such excruciating pain with no relief and no one willing to help!! My pain level decreased on its own by the second night to about an 8, so I didn’t need the morphine (which they wouldn’t give me anyway) and the oxy worked fine. I came home yesterday and doing so much better! Will never go to St. Peter’s again!!

Labor and delivery nurses were rude and condescending. I was pushed into getting an epidural early when I requested to wait I was told I wouldnt get another chance if I didnt do it now ( I was only 4 cms dilated and still wouldnt deliver for another 24 hours.) The next 2 nurses I had were in training and did not know how to perform simple tasks, including leaving IV lines unattached and dripping on the floor until my husband noticed and pointed this out. Last nurse I had basically told me and informed my husband I was being a wimp after my OB suggested a c-section being in labor for over 60 hours, with nothing to eat/drink for over 24 hours, and my daughter still wouldnt drop into my pelvis. Ive never cried so much or felt so ashamed as these nurses made me feel. I tried advocating for myself thru the whole long process but was constantly talked over and over ruled, I had so many injections after 3 failed attempts to get my epidural done. I barely remember my actual c-section besides myself crying and vomiting from so many drug interactions. If I could give 0 stars I would.
