I am a former client of the Post Traumatic Stress Center. I went through intensive outpatient therapy for a good year and a half, from October 2018 to March 2020. I am ever grateful to the courteousness, professionalism, and dedication of the staff there. Thanks to their support I was finally able to start living a full life. I am now back in college and looking forward to an ever bright future thanks to skills Ive acquired here!

On April 19, 2021, I underwent an MRI of my lumbar spine for complaints of lower back pain. MRI tech, Kellie (Waters) Smith, did that imaging for me and informed me it would take approximately 25 minutes. As the time came closer to the end, she claimed the picture blurred and she would need an additional 4 minutes and 30 seconds to complete the job. Within hours of my arriving home, my orthopedic doctor who had ordered the MRI, Dr. Cipriani, called me with the results of what I expected would be issues related to my spine. Yes, they included those findings, but also the surprise finding of a mass in my right kidney. While Kellie could not diagnose my health issues, she was familiar enough with what the anatomy would look like on scanning that if she suspected something odd about a certain image, she could certainly call it to the attention of the physicians, which she did. Whoever sets the standards for the imaging borders of a certain body area has set the margins wide enough to include kidneys (or at least a portion of them) in the lumbar area. Gratefully, I cannot stress enough how this young lady led the wave of medical and surgical attention I needed to rid my body of this potentially life-threatening cancer. As it happened, the cancer was found early enough that it was all removed and I am not facing chemotherapy or radiation therapy, simply CT scan imaging and bloodwork in 3 months. Again, words cannot adequately express the depth of my gratitude for this young ladys skills in doing her job very well and being a big part in saving my life.

I have been trying to get ahold of the people at St. Thomas psychiatric since 8/26/20. No response. Ive left multiple messages, the only person Ive talked to was the operator who is only able to connect me to a voicemail. After my first week of failed attempts reaching anyone, I walked into the physical building to set up an appointment in person. I explained to the personnel taking my temperature why I was there, how Im trying to set up an appointment by phone for the past week and getting no call back. They told me That would be the way you get in touch with them I said, I cant just go in to set it up in person? No one is answering the phone. They said No, sorry. So I left and while outside the building called again and still get a voicemail. Not really sure what to do at this point, I guess Ill just keep calling, pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

St Thomas Behavior Health, Intensive Outpatient and the Post Traumatic Stress Center are all awesome. They all took such great care of me and taught me excellent skills so I can turn my life around. The doctors, staff, techs, therapists all are so caring and dedicated to their patients. I owe all of them a HUGE thank you for everything they did to assist in my recovery. I love St Thomas and recommend them to everyone!!!

Here is why I dont like St. Thomas hospital my woman had a knee replacement surgery here and after staying in a room with absolutely nothing to do. They charge u for watching t.v. but after the surgery they did not sent anything that would help keep it clean maybe a few extra bandages and stuff to keep it clean. She got absolutely nothing to take with her. It sucks seeing her big scare exposed and sticking to her knee. I have no problem with the doctors or nurses they were great but you got to be able to help the patient at least a little.

In the 2 years since someone has left a review, this place has definitely gone down hill. Had a close friend go into inpatient here for adult psychiatric and it was terrible. When ever I called they were super rude and could never help me. When I went in the front desk was vacant, majority of the lights were off. No one was able to help us.We finally found the right floor because they had forgot to mention they moved him. When visiting hour started I had to call from my phone to get someone to come let us in because it had been 10 minutes since it started and no one had come to let us in.The nurses were rude and my friend didn’t really get any help at all. They said majority of the time they ignored them. The place looks like it’s falling apart, parking deck is crumbling, one of the buildings looks abandoned. Find somewhere else to go, this place isn’t worth the money.

I came into the ER very late the other night with a sizable laceration to my face. The staff was kind and efficient - balancing care for a wide variety of intakes. Dr. Alison Southern was to the point but compassionate as well. She took her time and gave a great deal of consideration while stitching together my very jagged injury. Stitches arent out yet, and I dont know how this will turn out, but I genuinely feel I got the best possible care that night.

I was here years ago when they still had an ER department and my visit was much less than satisfactory. But the orthopedic department has good doctors(with decent bedside manner at that). As for the rest of the hospital I cant really say. Lived here for years and tried to avoid going to this hospital aside from the orthopedic department.

I recently had arthroscopic surgery on my knee with Dr. Myer. He is a great doctor and really cares and takes care of his patients and staff. As far as staff at St. Thomas and Crystal Clinic in general, everybody has been extremely nice and did a nice job taking care of me and made my stay pleasant. Nurses are quick to respond to your needs and make you feel like you’re at home. Myself I had no issues with my stay, everybody was great. I would recommend people go to St. Thomas hospital over any other hospital in the area. BTW stay away from Akron City Hospital, that place is a nightmare. When I got transferred from there to St. Thomas they never sent over any of my information including my medicine allergies and discharge papers. Post surgery I was given Demerol which is one medicine I’m deathly allergic to. Luckily my dad and the recovery doctor seen the rash on me and gave me Benadryl to stop the reaction before it got any worse, wasn’t their fault cause city hospital should’ve sent my information over.

Released my mom from a knee replacement after she only stayed 2 days. She got released with a fever, and the pain meds prescribed couldnt be filled by the pharmacy because they needed prior authorization. Called back hospital to tell them this and they were rude and uncaring. Now she has to go a few days without pain meds after getting her knee replacement. This is ridiculous. On top of that they put this low suction vacuum on her incision site, and they couldnt figure out how to get it to work correctly the whole time she was at the hospital. She comes home, I take a look at it, fix it, and it has been working fine since. My point is I am not even a medical professional and I can operate a piece of medical equipment better than they did. Sad.

It appears that Valerie and I had similar experiences. I too, had a very good experience on the 7th floor of St Thomas Hospital. Never have I encountered that kind of genuine compassion and care from a hospital staff team. And I mean the entire team. Every staff person had a phenomenal attitude, was patient even in difficult situations, and appeared to take extreme pride in what he or she did. I should add that Ive been in quite a few hospitals in my lifetime (to say the least) and have many other hospital stays to compare to my stay at St Thomas. This was not my first time at the rodeo. Also, like Valerie, I had a very good experience in the ER. Everyone was kind and caring, both to myself and my family. I wish we had a St Thomas here in NC.

The place sucked dick. Ultimately they say its a medical detox but pretty much make you go cold turkey then tell you that you cant smoke cogs while your withdrawaling. Dont take my word for it ask em how high their turnover rate is. And how many people actually are able to successfully detox from opiates/opiods. I bet the statitistics prove what Im saying. I bet that many people feel the same way. Sad fact but true. Unfortunately they dont care whether you successfully make it through the detox and stay clean cuz lets face facts they wouldnt make as much money if people didnt have to return later desperately begging for help only to get asked to suffer through every bit of it. The point of a medical detox is to actually make you feel somewhat better while enduring the hell your facing.

I was sent here from the er (5th floor), and let me just say the entire staff were wonderful. I was pink slipped, which means staying (against your will) up to 72 hours. I had talked to a psychiatric doctor, and he knew I wasnt supposed to be there, that the er made a big mistake (trust me, big). The er twisted my words. Everyone at st thomas believed me, and tried to help me get an early release. I ended up getting to leave after 12 hours of being there. I didnt belong there.

I was recently a patient at St Thomas, The nurses on the 7th floor are amazing. Even when patients are at their worst and being difficult because they are sick, the nurses are still very patient and and simply amazing. I distinctly remember Amanda, She was/is an amazing nurse. I know I was anything but plesant during my stay, but she still treated me with respect and she was genuinelly concerned about me leaving when I did. I hope she sees this and knows that Im sure Im not alone when I talk about how great she is. She knew where I was coming from, My Fears especially and she shared her past experiences with me when I had questions about my illness. ALL the nurses were great, but Amanda stood out to me the most because I could sense her genuine character. I recommend St Thomas to anyone. Even the ER staff was awesome and I was anything, but cooperative in there. Im looking forward to visiting them again in the near future so I can share my health with them and tell them in person how great they are. WAY TO GO ST THOMAS....YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL STAFF THERE.
