TERRIBLE SERVICE. AWFUL. They left me and my mother sitting in the waiting room for 4 HOURS for something that should’ve taken 1. Barely anyone was in the waiting room and the nurses were so rude towards us, snotty, stuck up attitudes. The seating they make you wait in is so uncomfortable you couldn’t sleep in them if you wanted to. I’ve never been to a hospital where they’ve treated patients so horribly. I will NEVER come here again, I highly recommend going somewhere else if you actually want help.

I see why this place rates so low! I went in for a blood pregnancy test because my previous ones never read on a urine test. I have a IUD so I need to know as soon as possible for the safety of not only me but my child and the RN on duty told me there was no need for me to be there and they would NEVER entertain my request the best I would get is a urine test and I explained that wouldn’t matter and she said well this is no reason for you to be in the ER you should go talk to your people obgyn and at that point I was ready to go I’ve never been so blatantly disrespected in my life!

If I could give zero stars i would! I have NEVER... seen anything like this, what happened to this once respected hospital.. My partner went in tonight in Moderate Hypertension and in severe pain.. First he had to take everything out of his pockets and go through a scanner, just what you want to do when in severe pain huh. Then proceed to the check in desk where they take your name and date of birth and tell you to have a seat. Then they call you back for vitals then tell you to go back out into waiting area until they have a room for you. In the waiting area I observed so many just laying in the floor sleeping and 5 names were called and 5 not there any longer they had left! Finally name number 6 was called and they went back. My partner had waited about 30 minutes and had to vomit, so he ran out the front door we were sitting next to and after vomiting he went to go back inside and they said excuse me... You have to empty everything out of your pockets and go back through security since you went outside...I said omg I cant believe this he was out there throwing up all over the place and you could see him through the window i told them the operation they had was inhumane and I was taking him to another nearby hospital.

This place is a joke hate to say it but you’ll be treated better at city hospital. This staff has absolutely no idea what there doing. There a joke. My advice find a different hospital!!!!!

My friend was in the ER for 11 hours. A grinding wheel had blown up in his hand. He was bleeding profusely. They took him to a room quickly and the attending DR. saw him and we told him my friend had a mechanical heart valve replacement. He said nothing and walked out of the room saying Ill be back. Seven hours later, he had not come back. I walked up to the desk where he was sitting and talking with some other employees. I asked him when he would be coming back. He said hes just got a little cut on his hand Weve got more important cases here to take care of. A short time after that, two med students came into the room and said were here to sew up his cut. I told them they would not be doing that because no xrays had been taken of his hand yet. They left, a while later the Dr. came in the room and said I understand you want xrays. I said my friend could not risk an infection from any metal pieces that might be lodged in his hand. He left the room. A while later, a Lab Tech came in to take him to xray. Xray did show metal pieces. THEN, a hand surgeon was necessary and took another two hours to show up. The surgery was done in the room. I assisted, there was no nurse to do so. The metal was removed, his wound was closed, and he was released. The hand surgeon was great. The attending Dr. was incompetent, unprofessional and unkind. I dont remember his name - an older gentleman. VERY BAD experience and NEVER again Not really a bad ER, just inefficient personnel - which is a direct reflection of upper management.

I had major surgery and I must tell you that I found the staff pretty darn rude. This was my first experience at this hospital and I can assure you that I will never go back. Pre-op registration, oh my, they were totally unprofessional and made me feel like some kind of peon. The nursing staff at this hospital was so out of line, I could hardly comprehend how they treated patients and talked down to them. Post-op was the most horribly run outfit that I ever experienced. The only reason that the hospital received 1 star was it would not allow me to put a 0. There was no effort made at all by reeceptionists or nurses to provide any care or compassion. The thing that amazes me the most is that the famous Cleveland Clinic associates their name with this awful run hospital.

In hospital as I write this review. All was very good until a in room procedure was performed this afternoon.The doctor entered my room to perform a scope down my throat and thought that I was someone else. The ranted about me taking aspirin, which I have not in several weeks. He is negligent in my care and refuses to talk with me. I made a huge mistake allowing him to perform the procedure and have Zero respect for him and his abilities as a medical doctor.Do Not Allow Him To Even Be Part of Your Medical Team!

Medical mistakes have dire consequences. My heart goes out to those in the field living with that responsibility.

Worst ER ever! Still in the waiting room 7.5 hours later with my very ill mother. Multiple discharges wheeled by and havent called a single person back (other than triage) in 2 hours!

Five hours in the ER and still haven’t been seen, sick with diverticulitis and colitis with horrible diarrhea and dehydration and have not been seen yet, and this is a week after they seen me the first time, obviously misdiagnosed but putting someone in a packed waiting room with diarrhea and nausea with no bucket is just cruel. I will never come back here, I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here. THEY DO NOT CARE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

We love my moms surgeon. Surgical staff were friendly. Great updates during surgery. My biggest complaint is the lack of scheduling/preparedness. If you have scheduled surgeries, you need to have recovery stay beds available afterwards. We are on hour 6 after completion of my mothers surgery and she has still yet to be taken to a room because they are waiting for a room to become available and we were told by the same staff that that is very normal to be waiting hours upon hours. This is a scheduled surgery, not an emergency room visit. This is happening to others here today, as well, and met a woman who had waited 9 hours after her fathers surgery last month. I may be naive to how all this works, so I apologize if I am wrong, but I feel when scheduling surgery, corresponding rooms should be available afterwards within a few hours, not 6+ hours. We have been here since 6am (total of 11 1/2 hours and counting) for a 2 hour surgery.

My son brought his friend to have a doctor ordered MRI and he told me they waited an hour only to have several attempts at inserting an iv fail. The MRI staff dismissed them without bandaging the wounds, saying they will need to reschedule. She was dripping blood on her way out.This is not an experience I would expect in an American hospital. I have had several procedures at UH and the Cleveland Clinic and only experienced professional and outstanding care. I advised against going back to Akron General

The people here are slow to respond to their patients I have never been more dissatisfied with the Healthcare system

This place is supposed to be specialists in neurology yet when an EEG is placed they only get the report once a day from an outside facility, Very outdated technology for a hospital claiming such a prestigious name. I’m livid to find that my family member had been having seizures all night and they didn’t know until Noon the following day. When you call to get an update they give conflicting information from one nurse to the next, and when they don’t call you to inform you of status change it’s very upsetting and traumatic to family that can’t be by their side because of the pandemic. Careless, unprofessional hospital. These people have your loved ones life in their hands, please take them elsewhere.

I have been sitting here since 7 pm it is 3am and I am still waitting for my dad to be seen with chest pains! Worst hospital ever!!!! Took my gf here because she’s been throwing up green bile for a week straight. Sat in the waiting room for 8 HOURS+ Terrible hospital. Inefficient. Understaffed. Left because there was no point waiting another 5 or 6 hours just for the doctor to give us the run around. Profoundly terrible experience

My grandma grandma is in bad condition right now And they keep putting off her surgery when we could already be on the road for her to recover . And this place is a joke these nurses are stuck up rude and sneaky I seriously wouldnt recommend this hospital to anyone

Community hospital with strong commitment to people. Physicians have good fund of knowledge. Well established residency programs. With the acquisition of Akron general hospital by Cleveland clinic, it is making good strides towards a strong community hospital.

First of all this is going to be a long review, but please do read on until the end. I have quite a list of acknowledgements that are well deserved. You see my sister was on her way home from Quantico Virginia while pregnant and was experiencing chest pain and difficulty breathing. She stopped at the nearest hospital which was in Lodi Ohio. They transported her to Akron General because she needed special care due to preexisting medical issues and her high risk pregnancy. So thank you Lodi for a great call. She was only 6 mo pregnant suffering from preeclampsia.Something called HELLP. The doctors at Akron General saved my sisters life as well as her unborn child. So I owe them a huge thank you for the miracle of life they have blessed my family with. Thank you Dr. Stewart, Dr. Wise, Dr. Shaw, and Dr. Bowersox. I want to thank the nurses who took such great care of my sister in labor and delivery Alice, Teagan, Megan, and Amanda. You gals made our stay there comical and happy in a not so happy situation. The anesthesiologists who helped with my sisters C section Jim, Christopher ,Joe, and Wilson Thank you for making sure it was painless and comfortable for her. They were explaining every sound from the monitors, every tug, and the pressure she was feeling during the procedure. The Dr. who took care of our sweet baby after delivery Dr. South, Thank you. He kept coming back into the delivery room making sure to update us on what was going on with baby. Assuring us that she was healthy, had all of her fingers and toes, but was just very small. I dont want to forget Housekeeping. LaApril thank you so much for the the hard work you do and for keeping my sisters room clean. And for doing it with a smile. You have a tough job girl! LOL! On The 3200 Floor ladies thank you. Nurses Theresa and Sharon you guys are awesome I dont care what anyone says... LOL... Thank you too Tanyia. You are awesome. Last but not least I want to thank the lady who kept my sister fed, Mrs. Yvonne in the cafeteria. She called my sisters room every day to take her order for breakfast lunch and dinner making sure to stick to the Dr.s diet plan. All in all Thank You Akron General. To all of the people who have ever had a great experience here. You should write about it and comment. It seems only people who have had bad experiences have been doing reviews. That leaves out all of the good that they do at Akron General. Just remember people, communication is the key to having a great experience anywhere, and you get more Bees with honey.

Zero stars.......Doctor was nice but nurse obviously hated her job and life and treated everyone as if they were the cause of her problems. Avoid if at all possible. Nurses like that should be fired.

They accused my friend of being drunk and homeless which obviously wasn’t true he went in for heat exhaustion he was dehydrated and sun burned and they literally took one look at him and basically thought he was a homeless guy looking for a place to stay Please becareful going to the ER they truly don’t know what they are doing

Dont bring your loved ones here. If they need emergency assistance please take them somewhere else. If they are a drug user they will be treated poorly by staff. Goofy hospital. Goofy staff. Goofy setup. The whole emergency room is painted white. Doors and walls. It reminds me of Tom and Jerry. People pop in and out of the doors which blend in with the walls. Long wait times are terrible. The appointment experience is also backwards. When you show up to your appointment they make you go all the way downstairs to sign into a goofy kiosk and make you wait even longer for your already timed appointment. Staff members are rude and they are on their phones not paying attention to anybody. One nurse or doctor got on the elevator and was too busy on his phone instead of holding the door for us. New technology is also not always the best.

They dont care if your dying in the emergency room you will sit there for hours just to be seen.

I had a seizure next door at children’s and was taken here. Told ED Staff I bit my tongue, nothing was done, told staff I was in pain from convulsing on concrete, I was given Tylenol after fighting tooth and nail for it. 30 mins for call light responses. This is the worst hospital I ever have been to and I do not recommend going here. My nurse was kind and my doctor was too, but my nurse was probably overworked and put into an unsafe assignment.
